00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. More wet
00:04weather on its way from the southwest through Tuesday night and into Wednesday.
00:08The Met Office has issued warnings for heavy rain across western and southern
00:11parts of Wales and the West Country. A slight ridge into Wednesday morning
00:15brings cold air towards the northeast and this is your warning zone. You could
00:19see 50 to 70 millimetres of rain over the hills but it clears quite swiftly
00:23towards the east as we head through Wednesday afternoon. Still blustery
00:26though and the air turns colder particularly across more northern and
00:29western areas. This is an active cold front through Thursday will bring some
00:33heavy pulses of rain with heavy showers to follow towards the north and the west
00:37turning wintry over the higher ground. Now let's backtrack to Tuesday evening.
00:43The legacy of cloud and rain remains across central and southern parts of
00:47England and Wales. Colder air towards the northeast of Scotland as showers become
00:52confined to Shetland and then you can see here that cloud and rain arrives and
00:56pushes quite quickly northwards and eastwards. So a wet and windy end to the
01:01night across many areas. Some heavy pulses of rain can't be ruled out. Mild in the
01:06south, a cold start to the day towards the northeast where we'll see more cloud
01:09perhaps some brighter skies for Shetland. Certainly dry here with a driving wind
01:13but that rain marches towards these parts quite quickly through the day.
01:17Again these bright echoes representing some heavy pulses of rain so some high
01:21rainfall totals associated with this but notice a clearance coming in from the
01:25west around lunchtime for Northern Ireland. Western Scotland as well but
01:28that rain just lingers on across more central and eastern areas again
01:32associated with a strong wind and then through the afternoon brighter skies
01:35from the Midlands northwards. Showers across the north and west of Scotland
01:39clipping Northern Ireland. We hang on to more cloud across more southern areas
01:42even the odd pulse of rain can't be ruled out here. Temperatures though
01:46around 12 degrees Celsius. Now through Wednesday evening and overnight some
01:51clearer skies certainly chilly in shelter across eastern parts of Scotland
01:56North East England whereas further west the wind picks up again and this is an
02:01active cold front which will move across Scotland and Northern Ireland towards
02:04Northern England and Wales. At the same time more cloud and rain returns to more
02:08southern counties so a wet end to the night here but notice this front here is
02:13active. We're going to see a lot of heavy rain for a time it's moving from the
02:18west towards the east through Thursday morning so again some tricky conditions
02:22on the roads through Thursday morning rush hour. This is the cold front
02:26associated with it it's clearing Scotland and Northern Ireland but
02:29showers will follow and these showers could turn wintry over the higher ground
02:32but more wet weather to come through the morning into the afternoon across
02:36England and Wales. Even with the odd rumble of thunder and certainly we could
02:40see some thunder and lightning associated with these showers towards
02:43the far northwest. In between some quieter conditions even some sunshine
02:47eastern Scotland not doing too bad towards the end of the day but further
02:51showers running in across England and Wales as we see this rain become
02:55confined to the Midlands East Anglia as well as the southeast but showers always
02:59the name of the game across more northern and western areas. So wherever
03:03you are you're likely to see some wet weather over the next few days and some
03:06of it could be impactful certainly if you are traveling. I'll see you later.
