00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Overnight into Wednesday it's low cloud or fog patches, also the chance of some frost towards the west.
00:12Now where we see the low cloud through the next few days is determined by the direction of the wind
00:17and it's coming in from the southeast, flowing over a cold North Sea.
00:21High pressure sitting across Scandinavia and low pressure just positioned to the west of the UK
00:27and certainly a bit of a squeeze on the isobars through Thursday and into Friday
00:31as showers migrate their way northwards, but still some sunshine in the mix.
00:37Now for the time being, watch out for some heavier pulses of showers towards the southeast of England.
00:43Now through Tuesday evening also more cloud, particularly across central and eastern areas of the country.
00:49Further west we'll see some clearer skies and where starry skies dominate towards Wales in the west country
00:55that's where we'll see the lowest temperatures.
00:58The chance of a frost temperatures could dip down in the countryside to around minus two degrees Celsius
01:03and we'll see some fog here, certainly low cloud and some fog patches further east
01:08and where that cloud is thick enough, particularly across the Cairngorms, northeast England,
01:13could see some patchy rain and drizzle.
01:15Now across more western areas some clearer skies to end the night and still rather chilly here as well.
01:22A bit of a breeze coming through across northern and northeastern areas of Scotland
01:26keeping temperatures slightly higher.
01:29So first thing then on Wednesday morning, a lot of cloud to start the day across central and eastern areas of Scotland,
01:35similar situation across England.
01:38The odd shower can't be ruled out down towards the southeast, but they will fade away.
01:42A few showers may encroach across Cornwall and Devon, but brighter skies across western Scotland,
01:48northern Ireland, northwest England, mid Wales down towards central southern England
01:51and the cloud could break further east through the day.
01:55But the cloud will be stubborn across eastern Scotland, northeast England and again some patchy drizzle here
02:00and a keen breeze delivering some showery bursts to Shetland as well as Orkney.
02:04But where you see the sunshine it's not going to feel too bad at all,
02:08away from the east coast exposed to the wind.
02:10So we could see values coming in around ten, eleven, even twelve degrees Celsius towards the end of the day.
02:16But along this east coast that's where we'll see temperatures really struggling,
02:20six or seven degrees Celsius, nine for the likes of East Yorkshire.
02:25Now through Wednesday evening and overnight, yet again we're looking at some clearer skies,
02:30particularly across western Scotland, northern England, Wales down towards central southern England
02:35and even further east actually we'll see some starry skies through Wednesday evening and overnight.
02:40The cloud will be fairly stubborn across eastern Scotland, northeast England,
02:44but we can't rely on that cloud through the night.
02:47There could be some breaks and where we see breaks there's a risk of a frost
02:51and also some fog patches where the winds remain fairly light.
02:55Now further west a bit more of a breeze here, more cloud for northern Ireland
02:59and certainly a few showery bursts likely across the west country.
03:02Again a few showers likely also into the early hours of the morning across Shetland.
03:08In between though, yes the chance of some rural frost and some fog as well as we start the day on Thursday morning.
03:15So some murky conditions first thing, but the cloud will break and we'll see some brighter skies.
03:21Scotland seeing some sunshine, northern Ireland the cloud coming and going allowing for some sunshine to come through.
03:27And even further south through the morning, but during the afternoon notice showers will develop
03:32and they're going to migrate northwards through the day reaching southern Scotland later on.
03:36The chance of some heavier pulses likely here and also the risk of thunder.
03:41So through Thursday evening and overnight these showers across England and Wales fade away,
03:46but they'll continue particularly across Scotland moving northwards and a few also for northern Ireland.
03:51The winds will pick up into Friday morning, that will mix the air up a little bit,
03:56but even so in shelter there's always a chance of a touch of frost as we head into Friday morning.
04:01But Friday we'll see some bright and dry weather across much of England and Wales.
04:05Northern Ireland also seeing some brighter conditions, but for Scotland watch out for a few showers.
04:11The cloud coming and going and temperatures here 9 degrees Celsius.
04:14We hang on to double digits further south and southeast. See you later.
