00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04This morning we have low cloud, freezing fog, but also some clearer skies.
00:09The bigger picture, high pressure sits across Scandinavia.
00:12To the west, positioned here, some areas of low pressure and we're in the middle, hence
00:16the reason why we'll see a southeasterly wind develop through the next few days.
00:20The air is relatively cold aloft, we'll see some showers and the winds will pick up some
00:24strength into Friday, delivering showers further north.
00:27But this southeasterly wind has brought with it cloud through this morning, especially
00:32across eastern counties of Scotland, eastern England, and where the cloud is thick enough,
00:36some patchy rain and drizzle.
00:38A strong wind towards Shetland and Orkney, a few showers here, but further west it's
00:42a fine start to the day.
00:44Albeit rather cool, you'll see some clearer skies, some sunshine coming through across
00:47the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Wales, also north-west England.
00:51Then we run into this fog, particularly across the west midlands, south-westwards, with some
00:55frost.
00:56Towards the far south, watch out for one or two showers first thing this morning, and
01:00a few showers still remaining across the south-east of England, extending towards East Anglia.
01:04So there's lots of weather going on, not a lot of movement with our weather either.
01:09The air remains fairly static, and what that means through the morning, this section of
01:14the country here, eastern counties, always seeing more clouds, and again the odd spot
01:18or two of drizzle.
01:20Further west we'll see sunshine, but that fog will lift into low cloud and break, so
01:25even where you've seen some murky conditions through this morning, you should see some
01:28brighter skies.
01:29A bit more cloud down towards the far south-west with a few showers, those showers tend to
01:34die out through the morning across the south-east, but through the day we could see one or two
01:38developing in situ across central and eastern areas of England.
01:43Now for western Scotland, some sunshine here, hazy sunshine for Northern Ireland, and mostly
01:48dry across Wales, but these showers will be scattered across central and eastern areas
01:52of England through the afternoon.
01:55With an onshore breeze, it's going to feel cool along this east coast, seven to nine
01:58degrees celsius, but inland, with some sunshine, you could reach the dizzy heights of eleven
02:03to thirteen degrees celsius.
02:06Through Wednesday evening and overnight, that cloud will come and go across the eastern
02:10strip of the country.
02:11Clearer skies across central and southern parts of England and Wales, always more cloud
02:15across the far south-west there, perhaps even a shower, and the cloud will come and go across
02:19Northern Ireland, encroaching particularly across Formanagh as well as Tyrone.
02:24Western Scotland seeing some clearer skies, and where you see those starry skies, expect
02:28a frost yet again, particularly in the countryside, and with a light breeze, there could be some
02:32fog around to start the day on Thursday morning.
02:35Through Thursday then, yet again, we're watching that cloud come and go along this eastern
02:39strip here, the breeze keeping things cool along this eastern side.
02:43Showers though will develop more readily across England and Wales, and they'll migrate northwards
02:48through the afternoon on Thursday, at the risk of some heavy ones, even the odd rumble
02:52of thunder as they arrive across southern Scotland later.
02:55A breezy day inland, not feeling too bad, where you catch some sunshine, and still those
03:00showers across the North Sea, filtering in across Shetland, Orkney and the eastern side
03:04of Scotland, North East England.
03:06Into Friday morning, that's how we see the situation.
03:09Some clearer skies further south, a chance of a frost, but there will be more breeze
03:13mixing the air up, and that means through the afternoon, some sunshine across many areas,
03:18a few scattered showers across Scotland.
03:20I'll see you later, bye bye.
