00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Rain is moving in from the west through today.
00:08The winds also will be picking up some strength.
00:10Drier skies across Scotland, mid-wells towards England through the morning,
00:14before this wet weather slowly approaches these parts through the afternoon.
00:19The winds will pick up some strength as well, gales towards the south-west,
00:23as low pressure sits across the UK through Friday,
00:26as well as the weekend, delivering cloud, rain, showers,
00:30and some windy conditions from time to time.
00:33So let's have a look at this morning.
00:35Well, it's a fine morning, a bit chilly across Scotland with some sunshine,
00:38still a few showers for Shetland.
00:40That brighter and drier weather extends down across much of England,
00:44mid-Wales, eastern parts of Wales, but towards the west,
00:47the rain has already arrived across Northern Ireland.
00:50The winds have been picking up some strength,
00:52and slowly this wet weather is nudging on Gwynedd,
00:55as well as Pembrokeshire, Cornwall, and Devon.
00:58So through the morning, you'll see that rain.
01:00Further east, the winds are fairly light, it's fairly pleasant outside,
01:04and that sun will really get to work through the morning.
01:07However, the sunshine will be replaced by cloud,
01:10and then eventually rain through today.
01:12So the rain through the morning will bring some wet and windy conditions
01:16to Northern Ireland, eventually the Isle of Man,
01:18West Wales by around mid-morning.
01:20The west country is seeing that wet weather.
01:22Now through lunchtime, you can see the rain extending
01:25towards the south-west of Scotland, the north-west of England,
01:28covering much of Wales, and we'll see some come in across the west midlands.
01:32Hanging on to some brighter weather across the north-east of Scotland,
01:35and drier conditions across east Anglia, home counties towards the south-east,
01:39where we'll see temperatures reach around 18 degrees Celsius,
01:4215 or 16 under the rain band, and that rain could be heavy at times.
01:47Now through this evening, we continue to see strong winds towards the west,
01:50even some gales. Elsewhere, that rain continues its passage
01:54towards the far north of Scotland, extending down towards the south-east,
01:57where you'll see some patchy rain.
01:59One or two heavier pulses embedded within the rain band,
02:02and winds will pick up towards the north-east of Scotland later.
02:05Showery bursts will follow into the early hours of Friday morning,
02:08and temperatures not as low as they have been,
02:11so a relatively mild start to the day, 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
02:16Now Friday's looking showery. We hang on to that wet, persistent weather
02:20towards the far north of Scotland with strong winds.
02:23Elsewhere, showers will turn heavy with the risk of thunder,
02:27and they may merge together to form a longer spell of rain,
02:30as temperatures rise to around 16 to 19 degrees Celsius.
02:34Not feeling too bad in the sunshine, and we'll see a lot of showers into the weekend.
02:38See you later.
