00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Remaining rather cool but some drier weather on its way through the next 24 hours before
00:09we see the onset of more rain.
00:11All courtesy of a ridge of high pressure keeping things fairly dry on Wednesday away from the
00:15east and then a cold night to follow into Thursday morning.
00:20But notice towards the west, the Atlantic producing yet another low pressure system
00:24which will bring cloud as well as outbreaks of rain and also some stronger winds through
00:29Thursday especially across more western parts of the country before this rain moves ever
00:33northeastwards.
00:35Now backtrack to Tuesday evening, strong winds along this eastern fringe of Scotland as well
00:40as England.
00:41A few showers here, any showers inland tending to fade away, you may catch one where you
00:45see thicker clouds and one or two running down across the Irish sea coast towards the
00:49west country.
00:50Inland though the cloud will break and we will see temperatures fall yet again fairly
00:55low.
00:56We will have a cold night on the cars with a grass frost particularly in the north in
00:59the countryside and across the glens of Scotland even a touch of air frost.
01:05So if you are stepping out first thing on Wednesday morning, it's a chilly one for many
01:09but dry and bright.
01:11Now along this eastern side of Scotland with that stronger wind you will continue to be
01:15under a showery regime particularly for Shetland or Orkney and the tip of Aberdeenshire.
01:21This wind also will be a feature along this eastern side of England.
01:24The cloud will build through the morning into the afternoon and we will see some showers
01:28pop up particularly across northern England and the Midlands southeastwards.
01:33Brighter further west although cloudy conditions through the middle part of the day for Northern
01:37Ireland we are also seeing that cloud fade away through the latter part of the day with
01:41some late sunshine across many areas.
01:43Temperatures then up a notch on today and yesterday so 15, 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
01:49Now here is that weather system coming in on Thursday.
01:52The clouds and rain through the morning across Northern Ireland slowly pushing towards Scotland
01:57through the latter part of Thursday and into Friday.
02:00Then notice this through Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
02:04This is a complex area of low pressure, it's got no forcing on it so it's staying across
02:08the UK delivering cloud, showery bursts of rain and some of these showers could be on
02:13the heavy side.
02:14Winds come and go from time to time where the winds fall light you will see those showers
02:18lasting for quite some time.
02:20Further through Wednesday evening as I said it's a quiet night, it's a cold one as I said
02:25with a touch of air frost across the far north there.
02:29But more clouds across Northern Ireland, West Wales as well as the West Country and by around
02:347, 8 o'clock you will see the first of the rain arrive across Northern Ireland, Irish
02:38Sea coast, the West Country pushing in across the North Channel towards the southwest of
02:42Scotland around lunchtime.
02:43Patchy rain across Northern England through the afternoon but we hang on to dry skies
02:47across the north and east of Scotland, eastern and central parts of England.
02:51Your outlook then through the weekend, it turns showery as that rain clears and still
02:55rather cool.
02:56See you later.
