00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Now, wet weather will arrive across the western side of the country as we head through into Wednesday morning.
00:11All courtesy of an active jet stream which is allowing these areas of low pressure to develop and delivering them to the UK.
00:19You can see the strong winds of the jet stream just pushing down across the country through Tuesday into Wednesday and beyond.
00:27And that's the reason why the weather has been so mobile over the last few days and also wet at times.
00:33So, on Wednesday morning, a yellow warning for rain kicks in from 9am across western Scotland.
00:40Expect 50-100mm of rain, if not more, over the higher ground.
00:44And a real squeeze on the isobars so gales will develop as well.
00:49And these strong winds will extend down towards the Irish Sea from Wednesday and into Thursday.
00:54Currently though, through Tuesday evening, it's pleasant outside across much of England and Wales.
00:57Showers across northwest England, frequent bursts across Scotland with the odd rumble of thunder.
01:02And we lose the shower risk across Northern Ireland around midnight.
01:05Showers become few and far between into the early hours of Wednesday morning across Scotland as well as the winds ease.
01:11And clearer skies further south and east as we head into morning time.
01:16Temperatures then on the low side, it's going to feel chilly across Scotland and Northern Ireland, even rural spots across England and Wales.
01:23But notice, waiting in the wings, that cloud and also outbreaks of rain.
01:27However, first thing tomorrow morning, many areas getting away with a fine morning with some sunshine.
01:32It will be cool, at least though you'll see some brighter skies.
01:36And a thickening cloud through the morning will eventually bring some outbreaks of rain to western Scotland.
01:40Rain then moves in across Northern Ireland.
01:43But it's not likely to pep up until probably mid to late morning.
01:47We hang on to some sunshine across eastern Scotland, northeast Scotland, much of England and Wales.
01:51Although a few showers ahead of the main rain band across the northwest of England and the far northwest of Wales.
01:58But notice by lunchtime the rain has become persistent and heavy across western Scotland.
02:03And then the winds pick up further strength.
02:05So expect some choppy seas, particularly across the western coast of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Irish Sea coast through the afternoon.
02:11We hang on to brighter weather from the Midlands, Mid Wales, southwards.
02:15A bit blustery here even so, feeling pleasant in any sunshine.
02:18But notice this rain does extend towards Aberdeenshire, up towards Orkney and Shetland through the afternoon.
02:24But persistent along that western side through the latter part of the day.
02:27Here are your temperatures.
02:29Fairly low across Scotland and Northern Ireland, 16 or 17.
02:32We could squeeze a 23 across East Anglia, 20 for the eastern side of Wales.
02:37That weather warning extends into Thursday.
02:40And again we'll see strong winds, if not gales for a time.
02:43And then another batch of rain moves in through Thursday night and into Friday.
02:47That clears off the scene, but it could linger on across the far south-east into Saturday.
02:52And then notice still windy across Scotland into Saturday further south.
02:57We'll see some fine conditions coming through and a better day all round on Sunday.
03:01Before that though, on Wednesday night that rain continues to be persistent.
03:06And notice this driving south-west wind bringing some mild conditions but also strong winds across the north as well as the west.
03:14The winds then pick up across eastern Scotland through the night.
03:16That rain then extends into Northern England as we head into Thursday morning, lingering on into the afternoon.
03:23Drier skies elsewhere, some showery bursts can't be ruled out though.
03:27And temperatures typically 17 to 20 degrees Celsius.
03:30And your outlook then as we head through to Friday.
03:33Yes, we'll see a lingering amount of cloud even, spits and spots of rain towards the south-east.
03:37Elsewhere, some showers in the mix, temperatures on the up a little bit.

03:44And tomorrow, it's our 10-day trend. I'll see you later.
