00:00Hello there. Welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met
00:03Office. We're seeing some fog patches across southern counties this morning as
00:07cloud has rolled in from the west with outbreaks of rain. It's all courtesy of
00:12this warm front which is bringing with it some milder conditions, a bit of a
00:17breeze as well and this warm front will extend across the country through today.
00:21So it's a wet morning across western Scotland with a brisk wind coming in
00:26from a mild direction. A bit of a chillier start across more central and
00:30eastern areas of Scotland with some clearer skies extending down towards
00:34northern counties of England. So you may even find a pocket of frost or two here.
00:38Rain for Northern Ireland nudging in across the Isle of Man and clipping the
00:42western side of Wales as we head through the first part of the morning. This fog
00:47here will come and go through the morning. There are patches of it though
00:50which could cause some problems on the roads with poor visibility if you are
00:54traveling first thing. So it's a bit of a chilly start across eastern counties,
00:58more cloud and fog across more southern counties and this rain here. Now through
01:04this morning we watch as this rain extends across Scotland down towards the
01:08northwest of England as well as Wales, even the West Country seeing some by
01:13around mid-morning. Further east you'll see some dry skies but spits and spots
01:18of rain can't be ruled out by around mid to late morning for the Midlands. The
01:22rain covers much of Scotland by lunchtime extending down towards
01:25Yorkshire but for Northern Ireland certainly the western side seeing some
01:29drier slots as we head through the afternoon. That strong wind will bring
01:33some showers to the northwest of Scotland through the day as this rain
01:37which could intensify just about from time to time extends across towards the
01:43Midlands as well as Lincolnshire, eastern counties then not seeing the rain until
01:47after the Sun goes down this evening. Now temperatures will hold around 10, 11,
01:5212 degrees Celsius so a mild day however more rain returns and it's going to be
01:58heavier through this evening across Northern Ireland as well as Scotland and
02:02it will quickly move down towards Northern England, Wales and the West
02:05Country as we head through into the early hours of Thursday morning as this
02:08first batch clears eastern counties. At the same time the winds really pick up
02:13some strength across the northwest of Scotland expect gales here through
02:17Thursday and also a cluster of showers which will be heavy and they'll move in
02:21across Northern Ireland as we head through the morning. The air is colder
02:24across these parts you'll notice the difference. Hanging on to some milder air
02:28across much of England and Wales through Thursday morning and again this rain
02:32which could be heavy at times will clear down towards the southeast as we head
02:36through the afternoon. In between some quieter weather some brighter skies
02:40emerging and also one or two scattered showers but heavy frequent showers
02:44across Scotland and Northern Ireland with snow over the higher ground and
02:48some higher waves with those gales towards the north and northwest of
02:51Scotland. Temperatures will be lower generally on Thursday across most parts
02:567 to 9, 10 degrees Celsius hanging on to 11 or 12 towards the south as well as
03:01the southeast but come Friday everywhere will be colder, low pressure in charge
03:05with rain or showers, the risk of hill snow and even at lower levels for a time
03:09in the north we could see a mix of rain and snow. See you later.
