00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning forecast from the Met Office.
00:03Yesterday we saw impacts in terms of wind and also rain associated with storm
00:08Henk that's now sitting towards Denmark but low pressure also is positioned to
00:14the west of Scotland today bringing with it frequent showers. Winds will be strong
00:18towards the southwest of England as well as the northeast of Scotland and then on
00:23Thursday this feature here will bring some outbreaks of rain to southern
00:26counties of England and Wales so it remains changeable with rain never too
00:31far away and in fact if you are stepping out first thing you're going to get wet
00:34across Orkney as well as Shetland the far northeastern tip of mainland
00:37Scotland. Further west a rash of showers and a stronger wind this is where the
00:41low pressure is sitting and those showers are pushing over the highlands
00:44as well but some dry weather across southern parts of Scotland and shelter
00:48spots of southern and eastern Northern Ireland although showers for the Isle
00:52of Man, northwest England extending down towards Wales and a strong wind
00:56delivering frequent showers towards the West Country southern coastline as well.
00:59Inland across the Midlands East Anglia the home counties London you should see
01:04some drier weather Kent will be rather windy but inland you could see some
01:08brighter skies through the morning. So through Wednesday showers will move
01:13across the country they're likely to band together across Scotland through
01:17the morning into the afternoon to produce a more persistent band of rain
01:20and that rain just keeps on falling across the far northeast of Scotland.
01:24Showers roll in across Northern Ireland clipping the north and the west and
01:28showers will continue and be slow moving the winds will be lighter across
01:32northern counties of England. Now further south the showers will move in quite
01:36quickly but they're like to be heavy with the risk of hail and thunder from
01:39time to time and then we could see some drier interludes just emerging as we
01:43head through the day. So wherever you are you will see some wet weather it's not
01:48the persistent rain that we saw across England and Wales yesterday even so
01:52through the latter part of the day this band of showery rain will push right
01:56across Scotland and temperatures in the south will remain on the mild side but
02:00cooler towards the north as well as the northeast. So through Wednesday evening
02:05we watch as this persistent band of wet weather moves across Scotland further
02:09showers move in on a keen breeze for Northern Ireland western Scotland as
02:12well further showers towards the southwest Wales clearer skies inland
02:17though and a light wind we could see temperatures fall a little lower than
02:20that what they have done across England and Wales so lowest temperatures probably
02:25mid single figures here through the early hours of the morning as few
02:28showers just continue across northern England. So let's have a look at those
02:32temperatures then four or five across Scotland five for Northern Ireland and
02:36then we could see temperatures four to seven degrees Celsius across England and
02:40Wales. So through Thursday earlier I showed you that small feature which was
02:45a band of rain which will skirt more southern counties through the day on
02:49Thursday. Now to the north of it you'll see some dry weather if not some brighter
02:54skies through Thursday morning. We hang on to more cloud for northern England
02:57much of Scotland and Northern Ireland with some showery bits and pieces and
03:01this weather front stays where it is with gales across the northeast and
03:05again further spells of rain as more showery rain moves in later on in the
03:09day across the west country as well as Wales as the rain reaches the far
03:13southeast of England. So wherever you are yes more wet weather on its way but
03:16things do settle down and turn colder into the weekend. Bye bye.
