00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05The weather remains fairly quiet through the next few days, a mix of starry skies and thicker
00:09cloud determining where the frost is and certainly by day there will be some brighter skies around.
00:15High pressure in charge drifting towards Ireland and then this feature here is a weak weather
00:20front which will deliver more cloud and some patchy rain but as it pushes southwards it
00:25will allow for some much colder air to stream in from the Arctic with an increasing chance
00:31through Sunday and into Monday of some snow showers.
00:34Before that though through Wednesday evening where the clouds is thick enough we could
00:38see the odd spot or two of rain eastern parts of Scotland, eastern England.
00:43That wind continues along this eastern side, further west we'll see some breaks in the
00:48cloud but clearer skies across the middle and southward southern parts of Wales and
00:53western Scotland that's where the lowest temperatures will be so a widespread frost
00:57across these parts with a lighter breeze across the far northwest you could even see some
01:01freezing fog patches yet again.
01:03A patchy frost for Northern Ireland, the cloud comes and goes here so all in all most places
01:09will be dry as we enter Thursday but it's going to be cold and certainly frosty across
01:14the south as well as the northwest.
01:18Through the morning then this cloud continues slowly drifting towards the Midlands, East
01:23Anglia.
01:24At the same time it will erode across more eastern and central parts of Scotland so some
01:28brighter skies emerging for the likes of Dundee, Edinburgh, even Aberdeen.
01:33More clouds across Shetland as well as Orkney and some brighter skies coming through across
01:38Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and you can see a little bit of brightness.
01:42Sunshine reserved for the far southwest of England and Wales through the afternoon and
01:47this northerly wind keeps on blowing and what that means even though temperatures are six
01:51to eight degrees celsius along the east coast it's going to feel colder than that.
01:55Now subtle changes in our weather through Thursday night and into Friday.
02:00As you saw earlier the centre of the high is drifting towards Ireland.
02:04The winds remain lighter then through the early hours into Friday morning with the chance
02:08of some freezing fog yet again down towards the central belt of Scotland even Northern
02:13Ireland where we'll see the cloud break.
02:15So a fairly widespread frost across these parts however the cloud across England and
02:19Wales away from Cumbria will keep temperatures slightly higher two to four degrees celsius
02:24but at least away from the fog you'll see a bright start in the north with some sunshine.
02:29Now through the day the cloud will slightly break up across northern counties of England
02:33even the northwest of Wales elsewhere yes it's a rather cloudy day with a bit of a cold
02:39wind at the same time more cloud will move in across the northwest of Scotland and that's
02:44the weather front which will push across through the first part of the weekend.
02:48Before that temperatures five to seven degrees celsius at the very best and I'll see you later bye bye.
