00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning forecast from the Met Office.
00:04Another bitterly cold start to the day, but with a light wind across central and western areas of Scotland,
00:09watch out for some freezing fog patches.
00:11Further east, in contrast, a keen breeze coming in from the north-east and more cloud,
00:16that cloud producing some light showers across southern parts of Scotland,
00:20northern areas of England where they could fall as snow over the Pennines.
00:23More cloud also for Northern Ireland, one or two rogue showers towards the far south-east,
00:28and then we run into clearer skies and a widespread and fairly hard frost anywhere from the Midlands,
00:34Mid Wales, southwards. Very cold start to the day here.
00:38At least though, you will see some bright weather with some sunshine.
00:41The wind will be a feature of the weather yet again through today.
00:45You can see it's coming in from the north-east, so it's going to feel cold in that wind
00:49as we head through the morning and into the afternoon.
00:52This cloud here could be stubborn from time to time.
00:55We've seen a few fleeting showers moving in from the North Sea,
00:58and Northern Ireland seeing that cloud break at times.
01:01Brighter skies for western Scotland through the morning,
01:04a similar situation during the afternoon,
01:06and some brighter weather, Mid Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia, southwards.
01:10But again, despite the sunshine, the wind will keep temperatures low.
01:15It's going to feel quite icy cold in that breeze.
01:18So not a lot to change through the afternoon.
01:21Again, we could see a few light showers just cropping up across southern Scotland.
01:26Elsewhere, it's a mostly dry scenario, but the clouds will always be quite thick
01:30across the north-east of Scotland, pushing in across the north Midlands,
01:34west Midlands through the afternoon, as well as Mid Wales.
01:37Here are your temperatures feeling colder than that with the wind.
01:40Now, through this evening and overnight, not a lot to change.
01:44We still have that nagging wind coming in from the north-east.
01:47The frost returns quite readily across central and southern parts of England and Wales,
01:52and some patchy frost across western Scotland and Northern Ireland.
01:55But where the cloud remains, temperature's just about holding up.
01:59Even so, it will be a cold night.
02:01And again, that wind will be a feature of the weather
02:04as we head into the early hours of Thursday morning,
02:07the cloud breaking up from time to time.
02:09If you do see some starry skies, temperatures will plummet.
02:12It's not going to take much to see a frost.
02:14So here are your temperatures across the towns and cities.
02:17Lower than that across rural spots,
02:19leading into yet again a day of sunshine, cloud and sunshine.
02:23So, the cloud will break at times through the day on Thursday,
02:27allowing for some brighter weather.
02:28Always more thicker clouds across eastern counties of England,
02:32eastern parts of Scotland.
02:33And where the cloud's thick enough, we will see the odd spot or two of rain.
02:37But it's a mostly dry scenario, which is good news.
02:40But this wind will be relentless.
02:42Now here's your outlook through Friday.
02:44We'll see some sunshine in the north after a frosty start.
02:47More clouds in the south and temperatures by day are still struggling.
02:51I'll see you later. Bye bye.
