00:00Hello there. Wednesday marks the beginning of meteorological winter and in fact through
00:05the first few days of December we watch as colder air will be interspersed with milder
00:09conditions coming in from the west with rain pushing across that colder air and turning
00:14to snow on its leading edge. For the time being though, low pressure in charge, rain
00:18and gale force winds. This low pressure system moves towards the North Sea and you can see
00:23the swathe of wet weather extending across England and Wales and then behind the winds
00:28shift round to more of a north-northwesterly direction, dragging in some colder air and
00:32also some showers. But we hang on to that wet weather, particularly across north-east
00:36England and south-east Scotland through the latter part of the night and close to the
00:39low pressure system we could see gales pick up to severe gales for a time. So wherever
00:44you are you'll see some wet weather overnight, whether it's showers or outbreaks of rain
00:48and a fairly unpleasant start to the day come Wednesday morning, certainly across eastern
00:53Scotland with that strong wind and showery bursts of rain. Showers push in across the
00:57north, turning wintry across the highlands of Scotland. Further west as well, clusters
01:02of showers then with a driving wind for Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man down towards the
01:06West Country, Wales, the West Midlands. Further east perhaps some dry weather for a time through
01:10the first part of the morning, even some sunshine. But weather systems will continue to push
01:15their way southwards. This occlusion here associated with some showery bursts of rain
01:19will sink their way down towards more southern areas through the morning into the afternoon
01:24and further showers likely across the western side of the country as well. Now through the
01:29afternoon most of the wet weather will be across England and Wales in the form of showers
01:33and that strong nagging wind. Further north yes it will be windy but inland you should
01:38see some brighter weather. Northern Ireland, Scotland seeing some sunshine to end the day
01:42and also showers just clipping this eastern side, wintry across the northern isles, western
01:46isles also seeing its fair share of showers. Temperatures then in the north, it's going
01:50to be cold. Further south just about hanging on to 9 or 10 celsius but notice this relentless
01:55wind through the afternoon. And into evening time and overnight into Thursday we continue
02:01to see a feed of showers particularly along the east coast but also inland across Wales,
02:06the West Country as well as the West Midlands, Northern Ireland also. But inland you can
02:10see towards the north a widespread frost with the risk of ice. A cold start to the day on
02:14Thursday but it will be right for many areas with some sunshine and we continue to see
02:18those coastal showers. And then all change through Thursday into Friday. This band of
02:24cloud and rain will turn to snow on its leading edge particularly in the north over the high
02:29ground but even at lower levels for a time. And then slowly the milder air will just seep
02:33across the country, still a bit colder towards the far north of Scotland. And then eventually
02:38we'll see more rain as we head through the latter part of Friday and into the weekend.
02:42So either side of these bands of rain some drier weather through Friday but then the
02:47start of the weekend does look wet and windy yet again and then turning colder yet again
02:53through the latter part of the weekend. Bye bye.
