00:00A tricky day on Wednesday weather-wise. Wet and windy conditions, there are
00:05warnings in force before the winds turn to a cool northerly on Thursday with
00:11further showers. Now through Tuesday evening we hang on to some showers
00:15particularly across Western Scotland, Southern Scotland, North East England
00:18before this wet and windy weather sweeps in across the West Country Wales. Northern
00:22Ireland seeing some heavy bursts, winds picking up some strength particularly
00:26across Irish seacoast and Channel Coast. Some heavy and persistent rain through
00:30the early hours just moving across central Southern England towards the
00:33Midlands, North West England eventually reaching East Anglia as well as the
00:36eastern counties. At the same time some clearer skies for Northern Scotland away
00:41from the Northern Isles and that's where we'll see the lowest temperatures but
00:44generally a wet and windy start to the day. So that's the picture as we head
00:48into Wednesday morning. As I said there are warnings in force, a wind warning
00:53across southern counties associated with some strong southwesterly winds
00:57which could turn very gusty, gusts up to 50 miles an hour so some high waves
01:02associated with it and thunderstorms across this zone here anywhere from
01:06southern parts of Northern England much of Wales towards the Midlands and with
01:10light winds the showers will be slow moving. So the rain returns towards the
01:14West Country as well as Wales, this band of rain slowly moves its way northwards
01:18again persistent and heavy, showery for Northern Ireland but a better afternoon
01:22to come here. In between this is where we're seeing the thunderstorms, so thunder
01:26lightning as well as hail. The persistent rain pushes towards the
01:29southeast through the afternoon again strong and gusty winds here and a
01:34relentless easterly breeze across the southeast of Scotland, North East
01:38England again associated with some heavy and persistent rain. But some brighter
01:42skies coming through towards the northwest as we head through the latter
01:44part of the day as thunderstorms rumble on into the evening on Wednesday. This
01:49rain continues through Wednesday evening across eastern counties sliding
01:54down towards East Anglia before retreating towards the North Sea and
01:57notice this northerly breeze delivering clouds and some showery bursts through
02:02into Thursday morning. A legacy of clouds as we enter Thursday across much of the
02:07Midlands, eastern and southern counties of England. Clearer skies across Northern
02:10England as well as Wales but this cloud will stream in here, showery bursts will
02:15be frequent across the north and the west of Scotland as well as Northern
02:17Ireland. A little sunshine in between but some showers developing through the
02:21afternoon and they could be heavy again with the outside chance of thunder.
02:25Temperatures around average for this time of year but feeling cool exposed to
02:28the wind. Here's your outlook through Friday. Friday is likely to be a slightly
02:34better day, more in the way of brighter weather, always the chance of some
02:37showers and the showers certainly across eastern counties could again turn out to
02:41be heavy and quite persistent for a time as temperatures struggle up to around 18
02:45to 21 degrees Celsius. So that's the picture through the end of the working
02:50week. This ridge comes in on Friday, dampening shower activity into Saturday
02:56morning but come Saturday look at this, an area of low pressure tracks yet again
03:01in towards Wales as well as the West Country moving ever eastwards through
03:04the day. The winds will pick up some strength, outbreaks of rain as well so
03:08expect some highways particularly across Irish sea coast. Now for Scotland,
03:12Northern Ireland, Northern England we'll see some showers which could merge to
03:15form a longer spread of rain into Sunday associated with this weather
03:18front and then the ice bars open out so we'll see a lighter breeze to end Sunday
03:22and some fine weather towards more southern areas.
