00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Cold and icy over the next 24 hours with an ice warning in place anywhere from the northern
00:09isles down towards eastern England through Thursday and into Friday associated with
00:13snow showers. Towards the far southeast a feature coming in from the near continent
00:18will deliver cloud, rain and snow. Some stronger winds here so an ice and snow warning until
00:22mid-morning on Friday and then we see this feature here just sliding down the western
00:27side of the UK. That's cloud, rain and hill snow. Things quieten down through the weekend
00:31before they liven up into next week. Through Thursday evening though notice that strong
00:37wind delivering those showers towards the eastern and northern side of the country.
00:41A mix of rain, sleet, hail and snow. Always the chance of some wintry showers just clipping
00:47Essex, Suffolk as well as Kent. A strong wind here. I wonder if the two showers are just
00:52running down the Irish sea with a keen breeze. However in the north under some starry skies
00:56a chance of seeing the aurora particularly across Scotland through to the early hours
01:01of Friday morning. So Friday morning will dawn bright and crisp for much of Scotland.
01:06Yes still a few showers clipping Aberdeenshire and the borders. However many areas will be dry.
01:12More clouds across the northeast of England. Again some wintry showers here but a fine start
01:16to the day for Northern Ireland. One or two showers again just clipping Pembrokeshire,
01:20the coast of Cornwall and Devon. But inland towards the midlands, central southern England
01:24fine and dry with some sunshine. Towards the southeast yes this showery rain with that hill
01:29snow which could fall to lower levels for a time will continue through the morning before it fades
01:34away. But still that cold wind coming in from the North Sea. The winds will ease across Northern
01:40England as well as Scotland. So a pleasant afternoon although temperatures won't rise
01:44very far very fast. However towards the far north of Scotland that area of cloud just moves down
01:50towards the central belt bringing with it cloud rain and hill snow through the latter part of the
01:55morning into the afternoon. Temperatures then typically will be below average for this time
01:59of year. A frost to start the weekend and then through Saturday once the rain and hill snow
02:05clears the west country many areas seeing some drier conditions still a fair amount of cloud
02:10and into Sunday a similar situation before things turn more unsettled into next week.
02:15Bye-bye.
