00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Now today it's fairly quiet, still cold and we'll see a mix of cloud and clearer
00:10skies and where we have seen clearer skies overnight it's frosty outside even
00:15with some freezing fog patches with just a light breeze across central western
00:18parts of Scotland. Further east you can see more clouds and the clouds will
00:22produce the odd spot or two of rain through the morning particularly across
00:26southern Scotland, northern England, Northern Ireland's a dry scenario
00:30perhaps one or two breaks allowing for some patchy frost but certainly a
00:33frosty start to the day across the far south of Wales, central and southern
00:37parts of England as well. So a very cold start to the day here and watch out for
00:42the wind yet again down a notch on the last few days even so coming in from a
00:47cold direction you'll feel the force of that along the east coast and in fact
00:51that wind also delivering a lot of clouds as we head through the morning
00:55into the afternoon. The clouds will remain thick across these eastern
00:59counties but further west you'll find the cloud will break at times so some
01:03brighter moments coming through for Northern Ireland the clouds will erode
01:07across central parts of Scotland allowing for some sunshine here whereas
01:12across central parts of England, East Anglia, the Midlands you'll see that
01:16cloud migrating southwards through the day hanging on to some brighter weather
01:20towards the southwest of Wales and the West Country as well dry with some
01:25sunshine. This wind though keeps temperatures lower along the east coast
01:29even though we'll see values around six or seven feeling colder than that
01:33through the afternoon and across the Highlands of Scotland temperatures
01:37struggling to get above freezing one or two degrees Celsius at the very best for
01:41Northern Ireland six or seven eight perhaps for Dublin down towards Cork
01:44with some sunshine around seven degrees for Cardiff around five or six again
01:48you'll see more cloud through the afternoon and through evening time that
01:52cloud continues to push down towards the far southwest this will mean
01:56temperatures will be slightly higher overnight still cold but any frost will
02:01be patchy further north across Scotland and Northern Ireland maybe even the far
02:05northwest of England Cumbria you'll see a fairly widespread frosts and across
02:09the Highlands of Scotland temperatures dipping down through perhaps even minus
02:11eight minus nine degrees Celsius and some freezing fog to start the day on
02:15Friday morning across the central lowlands the central belt of Scotland
02:18with a light wind here this whole area of high pressure is sinking down towards
02:23the Republic of Ireland but we still have a northerly feed along this eastern
02:26side keeping things on Friday rather cloudy across England and Wales it's
02:31mostly dry perhaps the odd spot or two of rain in the wind but notice through the
02:35morning into the afternoon we could see the cloud break up across Northumberland
02:39perhaps even Lancashire as well as Ceredigion and Anglesey temperatures
02:44then typically around five or six degrees Celsius seven along the east
02:48coast where the winds will ease through the afternoon your outlook then through
02:52Saturday a weak weather front will deliver some showery bursts through the
02:56morning into the afternoon across Scotland and then a northern England
03:00never really amounting to very much and then come Saturday into Sunday here's
03:04your bigger picture a light wind towards the south perhaps some milder conditions
03:08here but the cold air streams in from the Arctic through Sunday delivering
03:13some snow showers through Sunday and into Monday and that pretty much sets
03:16the scene for next week I'll see you later
