00:00Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met Office. A rain
00:05warning has been issued for southern counters of England. It kicks in at around lunchtime
00:10today. All courtesy of this small feature here which would deliver cloud and some outbreaks
00:15of rain which could turn heavy the risk of flooding. Problems on the roads yet again
00:20with surface water. The winds will pick up for a time as well. Another low pressure towards
00:24the north west of the country. Again this will continue to deliver showers with rain
00:29towards more eastern counties and a strong wind as well. Inland across Scotland though
00:35some quieter weather to start Thursday. You can see even some broken cloud but showers
00:39never too far away. Showers moving in across Northern Ireland but again some drier interludes
00:44and further showers likely for northern counters of England. Now to the south of that we're
00:49seeing some clearer skies. A chilly morning this morning where you've seen some starry
00:53skies overnight but at least it will be a dry start to the day across Wales, the Midlands,
00:59East Anglia down towards the south east. But notice this bale of clouds extending across
01:04the west country. A few showers just arriving here and eventually we'll see more persistent
01:09rain. So through this morning we watch as those showers continue across the northern
01:14half of the UK. Some brighter weather will emerge once the sun comes up across Wales,
01:19the Midlands but sunshine turning rather hazy as this rain slowly moves in. So covering
01:25the south coast initially but by lunchtime you can see some brighter echoes representing
01:30some heavier bursts of rain. Now the land is saturated already and it has been for such
01:35a long time now this is not going to help. So the risk of further flooding as we head
01:40through Thursday as this system tracks towards the south east and again the rain will intensify.
01:46Elsewhere we hang on to some drier weather, north Midlands, northern parts of Wales, more
01:51cloud further south and you can see here showers also across the north and the west of the
01:55country and they'll continue. The showers become a bit more sporadic across the eastern
02:00side but Shetland's seeing its fair share and again that strong wind. Now through Thursday
02:05evening that warning continues and yes we'll see more heavy and intense rain. So up to
02:11around six to nine hours of rain across some parts of the south and with that we could
02:16see 20 to 30 millimetres locally more than that. So again as I said there is a risk of
02:21flooding, surface water issues and some strong winds across Suffolk and Essex as we head
02:26into the early hours of Friday morning before this system clears off the scene. Inland as
02:32we head into Friday it's going to be a cold one, certainly where you've seen some clearer
02:36skies and even the chance of some patchy frost. But notice this northwest wind streaming
02:41down the western side of the country. This will be a feature of the weather through
02:45Friday delivering showers across the west Northern Ireland down towards Wales Irish
02:51Sea coast. So always showers here. Inland the cloud will break we'll see some fine weather
02:56and much better day across central southern England, the Midlands as well. More clouds
03:01across northern counties, perhaps some breaks in the clouds across the Cairngorms but rain
03:05always along this eastern strip here just clipping eastern parts of Scotland as well
03:09as England. And temperatures around 6 to 8 degrees Celsius setting the scene for the
03:14weekend. It's turning colder with increasing chance of some frost but it will be drier
03:18as well. See you later.
