00:00Hello there welcome to your Thursday morning weather update from the Met
00:04Office. It's rain or showers today. In between we'll see some drier interludes
00:09and even some brighter weather. The air is turning colder from the west in fact
00:13that's how we see Friday. Low pressure still in charge and it's this low here
00:19which will deliver cloud, rain and also some hill snow as we head through the
00:23day. You can see these blues streaming down from the north. Now through this
00:27morning showers from the word go across more western and northern areas of
00:31Scotland with a strong wind here. Inland and towards the east some a brighter
00:36weather the cloud just drifting across the sky northern England as well. Showers
00:40filing in across Northern Ireland but towards Belfast and Newry you should see
00:44some dry weather and some hazy sunshine across the western side of Wales. West
00:50country seeing the last of that rain. It extends towards the Severn estuary up
00:54towards Fenlands and southeastwards. So here it's a wet start southern parts of
00:58Lincolnshire also seeing some spits and spots of rain. Heavier pulses are
01:02associated with it and a bit of a breeze coming through here as it slides down
01:07towards the southeast through this morning. As you can see we have showers
01:11in the northwest, rain in the southeast and in between today some brighter
01:15weather and even some drier skies but showers never too far away and you can
01:20see them tracking across Scotland as we head through this morning pushing down
01:24towards the central belt and they'll merge to form a longer spell of rain as
01:27we see gales pick up along the coastline towards the northwest. A lot of showers
01:31for Northern Ireland through the afternoon a few coming through for Wales
01:35as well as the West Country and yet this rain continues across the East Midlands
01:40East Anglia home counties the southeast. Brighter skies extend towards eastern
01:44counties of England though eastern Scotland not doing too badly at all. So a
01:48mix of showers rain and some brighter skies as temperatures hold around 10 or
01:5211 towards the southeast but it's going to feel cold in that wind towards the
01:56north as well as the west temperatures here around 7 or 8 degrees Celsius. So a
02:00relentless wind across the far northwest on Thursday night tonight and into
02:05tomorrow morning and then we watch as this system moves in that's the low
02:09pressure sitting across Ireland bringing with it some heavy pulses of rain
02:13through the early hours of tomorrow morning and as you can see that rain
02:16turning to snow across the Welsh mountains through the early hours into
02:20Friday morning. Watch out for some tricky driving particularly across
02:23southern counties a couple of hours of heavier rain likely through the morning
02:28and a widespread frost across many areas to start the day tomorrow. So a bright
02:33morning across central and eastern areas northern counties of England Northern
02:36Ireland that rain across more western areas of Scotland and this area pivots
02:40and moves northwards again it's rain and snow over the high ground but even
02:45across more lower levels for a time in any heavier pulses we could see some
02:49wintriness as it arrives across the southern uplands into Friday evening
02:53further showers will follow and again they're likely to be heavy. So that's
02:57pretty much how we see the weekend a lot of showers around on Saturday cold wind
03:02streaming down this western side of Scotland again the risk of some snow
03:06over the higher ground of Scotland through the day on Saturday fewer
03:10showers though on Sunday I'll see you later
