00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Heavy rain around through
00:05Wednesday evening and into Thursday. Now there's an amber warning in place across north Wales,
00:10north west England extending towards the southern Pennines where we'll really see those rainfall
00:14totals tot up. A broad yellow warning covering much of the country away from the south where
00:19we will see thunderstorms through Wednesday evening but they'll fade away. And some stronger
00:23winds are down this western side associated with this low pressure. So again some high
00:27waves here as well. So lots of hazards out there through the next 24 hours but the main
00:33one will be the heavy rain, the persistent rain causing problems if you are travelling.
00:38So let's have a look at the detail through Wednesday evening. Some heavy pulses of rain
00:43around anywhere from northern and eastern parts of Scotland down towards northern England
00:48and north Wales. This rain also clips the eastern side of northern Ireland. Rain also
00:53across the Midlands further south. Those showers fade and we'll see some drier skies. But really
00:58it's the amount of rain and the persistence of the rain which will cause problems if you
01:02are travelling through the night and into Thursday morning. Spray in particular but
01:07deep water causing strong currents and some roads will be flooded. And in fact if you're
01:13driving over the higher ground water cascading down hills as well as mountains. So some nasty
01:18conditions into Thursday morning. This amber warning remains in place until lunchtime.
01:24Now across the Midlands and the south you'll see more cloud through the day but the cloud
01:27will break at times particularly towards the far south east allowing for some brighter
01:31weather. And some fine conditions coming and going across the western side of northern
01:35Ireland as well as the outer Hebrides. But still a strong wind here. And this rain remains
01:40in place across the rest of the country. So yet again problems as we head through Thursday
01:45evening. And this rain could actually pep up a little bit. You can see here some showery
01:49bursts and some intensity there through Thursday evening. As temperatures hold around 15 degrees
01:54Celsius we could squeeze an 18, 19 towards the south as well as the south east where
01:59dry conditions will prevail. Now through Thursday evening and overnight this rain continues.
02:05Low pressure is just sitting towards the North Sea. But this low will lose its intensity.
02:09It will continue to fill. So any rain turning a bit more showery but still a lot of low
02:14cloud associated with it. Low cloud causing problems particularly on the higher routes
02:19if you are travelling into Friday morning. A bit cooler towards the south east as well
02:24as the western side of Northern Ireland under some clearer skies. Now Friday a legacy of
02:29cloud. A little showery rain around. We've lost the wind which is good news. And we've
02:34gained some brighter weather. The cloud will break at times. And this will help temperatures
02:38up to around 15, 16, 17 degrees Celsius if not higher. And Saturday is looking drier
02:44as well as warmer. But an increasing chance of seeing some showers on Sunday. I'll see you later.
