00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05It's hot and humid over the next few days across England and Wales, with a thundery
00:08breakdown coming in from the south. For Scotland and Northern Ireland, Wednesday is looking
00:12pleasantly warm with some sunshine. High pressure remains in charge, but the air becomes unstable
00:17across southern counters. And here, a yellow warning for thunderstorms kicks in from midday
00:23on Wednesday. More about that in a moment.
00:25For the time being, Tuesday evening, it's pleasant outside. A few fleeting showers across
00:30the far north of Scotland. The cloud drifts across the sky with a light breeze. There's
00:34a chance of one or two showers just moving in across the far south there. And it's going
00:40to be a humid night across England and Wales, uncomfortable for many as temperatures hold
00:45around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. In contrast, temperatures dipping down to around 8 or 9
00:51Celsius under clear skies across Scotland, 12 or 13 for Northern Ireland, and a mix of
00:56clouds and sunshine to start the day on Wednesday here. Now for Scotland, it's a fine day with
01:01some sunny spells. Again, a few showers across the far north. England and Wales, some hot
01:06sunshine through the morning into the afternoon. And slowly, there's a risk of some scattered
01:12thunderstorms through the afternoon. They could turn heavy as we head through the day.
01:17So one or two torrential downpours can't be ruled out, but they are fairly sporadic.
01:21A warning, though, does extend through into Wednesday evening and overnight. And here,
01:27temperatures reaching around 28 for mid Wales. Down towards the south, we could see 32 Celsius.
01:34For Scotland and Northern Ireland, a pleasant 20 or 21 Celsius. Now through Wednesday evening
01:40and overnight, a risk of some thundery activity with some heavy showers moving from Wales
01:44towards Northern England, the Midlands. More thunderstorms and lightning likely across
01:49central and southern parts of England as well. So that warning extends through Thursday before
01:53things turn fresher from the west on Friday with some showery bursts. So let's pick up
01:57on some detail through Wednesday evening. Again, it's a pleasant evening, but there
02:01will be a few showers in the mix. A few running in across the far south of Scotland. This
02:07batch could turn heavy across northern parts of Wales, northern England, and another batch
02:11down towards more central and eastern areas, again with the risk of thunder and lightning.
02:15So your outlook through Thursday afternoon. A continued risk of thunderstorms across England
02:21and Wales. Some good sunny spells further north. Temperatures on the up as well, 22,
02:2523 Celsius. Still 30 possible in the far south and southeast. And this is how you see Friday.
02:31Showery bursts coming in from the west. More clouds as well. The winds will pick up eventually.
02:35Elsewhere, we hang on to that hot and humid air. See you later.
