00:00A very good morning to you on this wet Thursday. Rain continues across many
00:05parts of the country today after the wet day we saw yesterday. Rainfall totals
00:09continue to rise and there's an amber warning until lunchtime across North
00:14Wales, North West England as well as Southern Pennines. Low pressure sits
00:18across the country, it's slow moving hence the reason why the weather remains
00:21so wet and quite a breeze coming down the western side of the country as well.
00:26Eventually this low will fill and that means an improving picture through
00:31Friday and into Saturday as temperatures recover a little bit. But for the time
00:36being it's a wet start to the day across much of Scotland and that driving wind
00:40pushing down towards Northern Ireland, some rain towards the eastern side of
00:43Northern Ireland, rain persists across northern and central parts of Wales,
00:47northern counts of England. To the south of that it's a mostly dry morning, the
00:51cloud will break at times, you may even see a glimmer of sunshine as
00:56temperatures rise. However that won't be the case across the northern two-thirds
01:00of the UK. I noticed yet again some heavy pulses of rain churning around the
01:07centre of this low, so yet again we'll see surface water issues, some roads
01:12could be flooded, obviously swollen rivers and with deep water the risk of
01:16strong currents as well. So through the afternoon not a lot of change for most
01:21of Scotland, northern England, northern parts of Wales and again that strong
01:26wind making it feel rather cool. For the western side of Northern Ireland you may
01:30see the sun, it's going to be a bit drier here as it will be the case
01:34across the South Midlands southwards. Here temperatures around 18, 19, 20
01:39Celsius but remaining fairly depressed further north with the rain which will
01:43continue into evening time. Now we should lose the intensity of the rain overnight
01:48on Thursday and into Friday morning as the winds ease a little bit as well. It's
01:54going to be a relatively mild night where you see the cloud persist but some
01:58clearer skies towards more southern areas, temperatures dipping down to well
02:03nine degrees Celsius here as well as clearer skies across the western side of
02:08Northern Ireland, yes yet again single figures here. Now through Friday morning
02:13the legacy of cloud will continue to produce some patchy rain and drizzle and
02:17if you're driving over the high routes there will be a lot of low clouds so
02:21poor visibility. Some brighter weather towards the West Country, central
02:24southern England and the cloud could break elsewhere. One or two showers cropping up
02:29through the afternoon on Friday but they'll be fairly scattered as
02:32temperatures rise around 17, 18, 19 Celsius and your outlook into the
02:37weekend. Well Saturday's looking drier and also warmer, the cloud coming and
02:42going but an increasing chance of seeing some showers on Sunday. See you later.
