00:00Good morning, it's Thursday the 14th of March and welcome to your weather update
00:04from the Met Office. It's rain or showers today so most places seeing some wet
00:09weather as slow-moving weather fronts extend their way northwards. Behind this
00:14warm front the air is very mild and we can see showers tracking in behind it.
00:18We hang on to the colder air across the far north of Scotland, at least though
00:22through the day we've lost the wind here. It's still windy this morning though
00:26across Shetland with some showers. A few showers also clipping Orkney. Inland
00:30though we could even see a touch of frost across northern Scotland. It's a
00:33dry morning with some sunshine. More cloud extending across the central belt
00:37of Scotland. Eventually you'll see some rain here through morning rush hour. It's
00:41a wet start across southern Scotland, the far north of England. Also very wet
00:44across Northern Ireland with some heavy pulses of rain. Strong winds across
00:47Irish seacoast and some showery bursts moving in across Wales as well as the
00:51west country. Now across the Midlands eastwards it's a dry morning. It's a
00:56relatively mild one and you should see some brighter weather if not some
01:01sunshine. So through this morning we watch as this band of rain here extends
01:07towards central parts of Scotland through the morning. It continues to be
01:11wet across Northern Ireland and some heavy pulses of rain which will extend
01:14across southern Scotland. At the same time showers through the morning into
01:19the afternoon will cluster together across Wales as well as the west country
01:22moving in also across central southern England. For the Midlands eastwards
01:26you'll see some sunshine but eventually you'll see some heavy pulses of showery
01:30rain push across these parts through the afternoon as this rain eventually
01:35reaches the far north of Scotland. We hang on to some clearer air and also a
01:40few showers for Shetland and Orkney and also the Outer Hebrides and showery
01:44bursts likely across Northern Ireland through the afternoon which could turn
01:47heavy. This rain across northern and eastern counties will be heavy through
01:51the evening time further showers moving in behind it as this rain becomes
01:55persistent across central northern and eastern areas of Scotland. Now through
02:00the night we could even see a little bit of wintryness over the higher ground of
02:03the Highlands of Scotland as further showers move in on a strong wind across
02:07England and Wales. This wind will keep temperatures up across England and
02:10Wales 10-11 degrees Celsius into Friday morning but much colder air associated
02:15with this north northeasterly wind which will be strong streaming down this
02:19northern and western side. Now you can see this air slowly turning colder
02:23across many parts of the country into Saturday morning expect a frost across
02:27the northern half of the UK before more cloud and rain waits in the wings
02:30towards the west. Let's backtrack now to Friday morning it's showery across
02:35England and Wales and these showers could be heavy. We'll see some clearance
02:38coming in across Northern Ireland some brighter skies but a chilly wind here
02:42and a cold wind across Scotland again with some showery bursts of rain but
02:47brighter weather coming through across Western Scotland as well as northwest
02:50England and West Wales through the latter part of the day as these showery
02:53bursts eventually clear towards the North Sea. So wherever you are have a
02:57great day take care enjoy the sunshine whilst you can remember it's mild in the
03:01south but that rain will be persistent further north and I'll see you later.
