00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05Outbreaks of rain will be slow moving today across the central portion of the country.
00:09The air turns a bit colder across the far north west with gale force winds but generally
00:13speaking temperatures are well above average for this time of year.
00:16Here's that trailing weather front extending into Thursday as more showery rain waits and
00:21pushes further north east through Thursday and into Friday.
00:25Now first thing this morning, watch out for gales particularly across coastal districts
00:29of the far north west.
00:31Showers here but some brighter skies coming through.
00:33More cloud outbreaks of rain for Shetland, Aberdeen, Angus, border regions.
00:38Central Wales seeing some rain first thing, it is clearing here.
00:41Brighter skies across the far north of Northern Ireland, we hang on to more cloud and rain
00:45down towards the south.
00:47Outbreaks of rain for mid and northern parts of Wales, northern counts of England.
00:50A bit damp to start the day across the west country, a keen breeze coming in from a mild
00:55direction.
00:56And then for the midlands, central southern England, east Anglia, even Lincolnshire, it's
01:00a dry morning.
01:01We could even see cloud breaks allowing for some brighter skies.
01:06So through this morning you can see where the heaviest rain is.
01:09It's really southern Scotland, northern England, mid and northern parts of Wales.
01:14Hang on to that wet weather across Belfast until probably mid morning, then we'll see
01:17some brighter skies and the sunshine will come out across the central belt, eastern
01:22counties of Scotland to the far north west.
01:25Scale force winds extending towards Orkney and Shetland.
01:29Some showers here.
01:30This rain, slow moving across northern England, mid and northern parts of Wales, could just
01:35nudge up again towards the far south of Northern Ireland.
01:38And to the south of that are generally a lot of clouds, but some breaks towards the east
01:42where temperatures will rise to around 14 or 15 degrees Celsius.
01:46Mild for this time of year.
01:48Cold in the wind across the north and northwest.
01:50Now we still have this weather front bothering the central sway of the country through Wednesday
01:55evening this evening and overnight.
01:57Again, some heavier pulses can't be ruled out as it pushes in across Northern Ireland,
02:02extends towards the far south of Scotland, hangs around across northern England, particularly
02:06the northwest where we'll see some higher rainfall totals and some patchy rain just
02:10comes and goes across west Wales as well as the west country.
02:13Temperatures overnight still mild across England and Wales, a little lower across Scotland,
02:17particularly the north of Scotland where the winds will ease.
02:20That's mainland Scotland.
02:21We could even see a touch of rural frost.
02:24Here's that weather front we saw in the bigger picture.
02:27It's straddling the country and it is a slow moving through Thursday.
02:31So this is where the wettest weather will be.
02:33Southern Scotland, northern England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the west country, and it
02:37could actually turn heavy yet again.
02:39Brighter skies towards eastern counties, but some showery bursts moving in across central
02:43southern England as well as the Midlands and we hang on to drier weather until much later
02:47on across the far north of Scotland.
02:49Have a lovely day.
02:50I'll see you later.
