00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:04We still have a north-eastly wind, delivering clouds and some showery bursts through the next 24 hours,
00:09but predominantly we'll see drier skies through Thursday, and also some brighter weather.
00:15Now let's backtrack to Wednesday evening.
00:18Still a blankness of clouds covering much of the country,
00:22and we'll see some showery bursts just coming in on a keen breeze.
00:26But through the evening and overnight, clearer skies come in across the south-east of England,
00:31allowing for a frost, and there's always a chance of a frost across central and western areas of Scotland.
00:37However, temperatures could dip down as low as minus three.
00:40If you see any persistent clear skies, then it will be lower than that.
00:44Elsewhere, that blank is a cloud keeping temperatures up,
00:46but it will be a dull start to the day away from northern and western areas of Scotland,
00:50where you'll see some sunshine.
00:52Some rain then for the central belt, just to the south, southern uplands, Ayrshire, Dumfries and Galloway,
00:57much of northern Ireland covered by that cloud, and some showery bursts.
01:01Cloudy skies for northern England, but then the cloud will break up across much of Wales,
01:05central southern England, and some holes in the cloud also for east Anglia.
01:09So, some brighter weather coming through on Thursday, certainly some sunshine for some.
01:14However, across this segment here, that's anywhere from Edinburgh, Glasgow, southwards,
01:20you will see that persistent cloud and also some wet weather,
01:23and that will be a similar situation for northern Ireland.
01:26Now, Shetland will see some bright weather through the morning, some cloud through the afternoon,
01:30but certainly for the north and the west of Scotland, you'll see some sunshine as we head through the afternoon.
01:35And you can see for the southwestern quadrant of the country, Wales,
01:38there's southwest Midlands, the southwest, yes, some fine conditions.
01:42Feeling warm in that sunshine, but towards the east with that keen breeze coming from a cold sea,
01:48the North Sea, much colder here.
01:50And this is where we'll see temperatures struggle a little bit,
01:52with that cloud producing the odd light shower from time to time.
01:56So, here are your temperatures through Thursday, around average for this time of year,
02:00but we could squeeze a 10 or 11 across western Scotland, central southern England.
02:05Now, through Thursday night, clearer skies yet again, a fairly widespread frost across Scotland,
02:11also Wales and the west country seeing a frost,
02:13but that cloud continues to be relatively thick across central and southern parts of England.
02:19And what that means, yes, it's going to be a bit of a dull start to the day come Friday.
02:24But through Friday morning, yes, again, some bright weather to come through
02:28across much of central and northern areas of Scotland.
02:31West Wales seeing not a bad day as well.
02:33Northern Ireland, some breaks there, allowing for some sunshine.
02:36And we'll see some breaks further east through the day, if you're lucky.
02:40Now, that's the picture on Friday.
02:42As we head into the weekend, some changes are afoot.
02:46Some patchy rain arrives across the north and northeast of Scotland,
02:49sliding down the eastern side of the country.
02:51And then into next week, we drag in some much colder air,
02:54so it could turn wintry from time to time.
02:57I'll see you later.
