00:00Hello, very good day to you. Welcome to your latest Met Office weather update. Whilst it's
00:04a showery picture for northern parts, it's a much wetter picture further south with heavy
00:08persistent rain in association with an area of low pressure that's going to push its way
00:13north-eastwards as we go through the day. We're likely to see totals of 20 to 30, possibly
00:18even up to 40 millimetres building up and that's why we have issued a yellow rainfall
00:23warning. Anywhere in this warning area could see some flooding and some disruption to travel
00:29but I think it's most likely around central southern England, so Dorset, Hampshire into
00:34Sussex where we have the greatest chance of seeing those highest rainfall totals building
00:38up. As well as the heavy persistent rain, we need to watch out for some strong blustery
00:42winds. Jersey Met has issued a red warning for the Channel Islands. Looking at the details
00:46through Thursday afternoon, that heavy persistent rain then edging its way a little bit further
00:51north-eastwards, a scattering of showers further north, particularly across parts of Scotland,
00:56Northern Ireland and into northern England. But in between these two areas, for more central
01:00parts, we're likely to see something a bit drier and possibly even brighter for a time
01:05before some cloud pushes its way up from the south. Temperatures will be near normal for
01:10the time of year, just about scraping into double figures towards the south, but with
01:14the wind and that rain, it is going to feel pretty unpleasant. That rain then continues
01:19its way north-eastwards as we go through this evening and overnight, so bringing some heavy
01:23persistent rain to parts of East Anglia and into Lincolnshire could be some further issues
01:28as a result here, and it continues well through the early hours of Friday morning. Otherwise,
01:34further showers likely, particularly towards the west. Some of them could be a little bit
01:37on the heavy side, but in between, something a bit drier and also some clear spells possible.
01:43Under these clear spells, we could see a touch of frost perhaps, and also some patches of
01:47mist and fog as we wake up on Friday morning. Otherwise, through Friday in the east, a bit
01:52of a wet start, that rain continuing for a time, but does eventually clear away. Though
01:56for eastern, north-eastern parts of Scotland, some persistent rain continuing here. In Shetland,
02:01we could see some wintriness, so some sleet is quite likely. Otherwise, a scattering of
02:05showers, especially across parts of northern England, Wales and perhaps western England
02:09too. Also, coastal parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland likely to see a few showers, but a
02:14bit further inland, it's looking quite a bit drier and there should be some sunshine at
02:18times as well. Temperatures likely to be similar to Thursday, perhaps even down a degree
02:23or so, but still near normal for the time of year. Most places, mid to high single figures
02:27may just about get into double figures somewhere towards the south. Looking ahead and into
02:33the weekend, we're still going to be under the influence of an area of low pressure towards
02:37the north, so bringing some blustery, showery weather for a time. And whilst there will
02:41still be a few showers coming and going as we go through Saturday and into Sunday, we're
02:45generally going to become under the influence of high pressure. So that means things are
02:49going to turn more settled with lighter winds, a mostly dry picture, a good deal of winter
02:54sunshine during the daytime, but we're likely to see some chilly nights with an increasing
02:59risk of some frost and fog. As a result, it is worth keeping up to date with the forecast
03:03wherever you are. You can do so on our YouTube channel. I'll see you later. Bye bye.
