00:00Hello, very good morning to you. Alex Burkill here again with your latest Met Office weather
00:04update. We are going to see a change to something colder for many of us, but before then we
00:08have some rain around in association with a front that is pushing its way southwards.
00:13As that clears away towards the south as we go into tomorrow, it will allow for cold air
00:17to spread across much of the UK. As a weather system then pushes into that colder air across
00:23the country on Thursday, it brings the risk of some disruptive snow, particularly across
00:27central parts. But for the time being, it's rain that's affecting southern Scotland, northern
00:33England and Northern Ireland this morning. That rain will feed further southwards as
00:37we go through the day, spreading into central England and Wales. Could see some high rainfall
00:41totals building up across parts of Wales. A drier picture for more southern counties,
00:45albeit a rather cloudy story here. All the time watch out for some blustery winds. The
00:50best chance of seeing any sunshine this afternoon will be across Northern Ireland once that
00:54rain clears away, and also some sunny spells in between any wintry showers across parts
00:59of Scotland too. A real north-south contrast in our temperatures today though, chilly in
01:04the north, some places staying in low to mid single figures for northern Scotland. Much
01:08milder further south, highs of around 13 or 14 celsius. Later on, this band of rain continues
01:14to edge further southwards, could bring a pretty wet end to the day across southern
01:17counties and some of that rain is going to linger through much of the night across the
01:21far south. Otherwise though, often clear skies spreading down from the north in that
01:26colder air, and with that then temperatures are going to take quite a drop. Falling several
01:31degrees below freezing across parts of Scotland, a harsh frost here and also some icy patches
01:36to watch out for. Staying a bit milder further south, especially across the far south where
01:40that front's likely to still be lingering. Temperatures only dropping to around 7 or
01:448 celsius here. As we wake up on Wednesday then, a bit of a damp start across the far
01:49south, and in fact there's the potential that we could see some of that rain lingering
01:53across the far south through much of the day before a bit more rain starts to push in from
01:57the southwest as we go through the afternoon. A brighter, drier story elsewhere further
02:02north, still a scattering of showers across parts of Scotland, and these could be a little
02:06bit wintry at times, but like I say, a greater chance of seeing some fine sunny weather at
02:11times too. Again, it's going to be a chilly feel in the north, and in fact that chillier
02:15air would have spread a bit further southwards, so central parts a bit chillier than they
02:19have been recently. Still just about getting into double figures across the far south,
02:23but it is going to be cloudy and a bit wet at times here too. We will have more information
02:28about the risk of some significant snow which is possible come Thursday in our deep dive
02:33which will be available with Aidan on our YouTube channel later this afternoon. Bye
02:37bye.
