00:00Hello, a very good day to you. Welcome to your latest Met Office weather update. There
00:04was some low cloud, some fog around earlier on today. Most of that is now clearing away,
00:09but there will be a few showers at times this afternoon. At the moment, there is a Scandinavian
00:13high blocking air of high pressure towards the northeast of the UK, and that is leading
00:17to a southeasterly flow across the country. And this flow is going to get even stronger,
00:22some brisk winds developing as we go into Friday. But for the time being, some low cloud
00:28then still across northeastern parts into the afternoon, lifting and breaking up a little
00:32bit. Also, a few showery outbreaks of rain likely here, and a few showers possible across
00:37parts of England and Wales into the afternoon, though these will be fairly few and far between,
00:43mostly light if we do catch any. Also, some decent bright or sunny spells. Perhaps the
00:46greatest chance of some sunshine will be across western parts of Scotland, western Northern
00:50Ireland and some sunny spells developing across southern parts. Areas exposed to that southeasterly
00:56wind always likely to stay pretty cloudy. Temperatures are going to be near normal
01:00for the time of year, perhaps a little bit below for some places. Most places getting
01:04into high single figures or just about scraping into double digits. Worth factoring in that
01:09there will be some strengthening winds that will make it feel a little bit chillier than
01:13these temperatures may suggest. Later on, and we will see the focus of the showers pushing
01:19a bit towards the northwest because of that southeasterly flow. So a few showers likely
01:22this evening across parts of Wales, these then feeding into Northern Ireland overnight,
01:27and then some showery outbreaks developing across parts of eastern Scotland and also
01:31northeast England. Could see some sleet or snow here, but we're talking over higher ground
01:35above 400 meters or so. That's where we're likely to see anything wintry. Away from these
01:40areas are mostly dry night and there will be some clear skies developing, especially
01:45across parts of southern England and also western Scotland. And so under clear skies,
01:50we're likely to see temperatures dipping a little bit for some of us. Many areas, temperatures
01:54not dropping a huge amount because of those brisk winds, but in the shelter from the wind
01:59under the clear skies in prone rural spots could see a touch of frost first thing on
02:03Friday morning. Otherwise, as we go through Friday, a few showery outbreaks continuing
02:08through the morning across parts of northeast England and into Scotland. But these will
02:11generally clear away and die out. And so for many, it is going to be a dry afternoon, increasing
02:17amounts of sunshine as well, especially across many parts of central southern England, Wales
02:22and western parts of northern England and also western Scotland. Areas again exposed
02:28that east southeasterly wind always likely to stay pretty cloudy. So eastern Scotland,
02:33northeast England and also parts of Northern Ireland staying pretty gray through much of
02:37the day. And we do have some strong winds to watch out for, particularly across northern
02:42parts. This is where the winds are going to be strongest and temperatures a little bit
02:46on the low side. And so there really is going to be quite a chilly feel, especially in those
02:51areas towards the north where you stay under that cloud. Otherwise, towards the south with
02:56a bit more sunshine developing and temperatures similar to if not a little bit higher than
03:00today and slightly lighter winds as well. It shouldn't feel too bad. Staying dry for
03:05many of us as we go through the evening and through the start of the night on Friday night.
03:10But the cloud becoming a bit more widespread and will be thick enough for a few spots of
03:14rain, perhaps most likely across northern England and into Scotland. Drier elsewhere,
03:19albeit something a little bit more unsettled, starting to push its way in from the southwest
03:24as we go into the weekend. Looking ahead to the weekend, and I think it's going to be
03:29a wetter note than we end this week. Most southern areas are likely to see some rain
03:33at times, both on Saturday and Sunday. Any rain further north is likely to be a bit more
03:39showery and should be mostly light. All the time, though, we are going to have some brisk
03:43or even strong easterly winds leading to a bit of a wind chill, particularly in northern
03:48parts. If you want more information about the weekend forecast, then do check out our
