00:00Hello again, welcome to your latest Met Office weather update.
00:03Friday's looking like a largely dry day for many of us, although it will be quite windy,
00:07and before then we do have some showers as we go through the end of Thursday.
00:11Showery outbreaks across parts of Northern Ireland overnight,
00:14also some showery outbreaks across parts of North East England and also Eastern Scotland.
00:19Some wintriness is possible, a little bit of sleet or snow over the higher ground here,
00:23we're talking above 400 metres or so, we could see something wintry.
00:27Elsewhere, a largely dry night and there will be some clear skies around,
00:31though quite a bit of cloud for many of us.
00:33In the south, across parts of Southern England, perhaps South West Wales,
00:37and also Western Scotland, here's where we have the greatest chance of seeing some clear skies,
00:41and under these clear skies, temperatures will take a little bit of a dip.
00:44In prone rural spots, in the shelter from the brisk winds,
00:48we could see a touch of frost, though many places holding up a few degrees above freezing.
00:53As we go through Friday itself then, some showery outbreaks to start,
00:56again across Northern areas, but these will largely clear away and die out
01:00as we head into the afternoon, so for much of the country it is going to be largely dry.
01:05There will also be a decent amount of sunshine for many parts of Central Southern England
01:10and also Wales, also Western Scotland seeing some decent breaks in the cloud.
01:14Elsewhere though, in areas exposed to that southeasterly wind,
01:18we are going to drag in quite a bit of cloud from the North Sea,
01:21so across eastern parts of Scotland, many parts of eastern Northeastern England,
01:25likely to be a pretty great day, and some strong winds to watch out for here as well.
01:30Temperatures in the south may be up a degree or so compared to Thursday,
01:34highs of around 12 Celsius here, many areas getting into double digits,
01:38but further north, where we have this thick cloud,
01:41temperatures a little bit lower than they have been recently,
01:44and when you factor in those strong winds, it really is going to feel quite cold.
01:48A significant wind chill making it feel closer to freezing at times across some northern parts.
01:54As we go through the end of the day on Friday, most places stay largely dry,
01:58a bit more cloud developing through the night,
02:00and that cloud across northern northeastern parts
02:02may be thick enough for a few spots of rain at times,
02:05and then during the early hours of Saturday morning,
02:07we could start to see some outbreaks of rain pushing into southern parts,
02:11but many areas starting Saturday largely dry.
02:14Again, where we see any clear skies, we may see temperatures dipping close to,
02:18if not a little bit below freezing,
02:20but again, many places holding up a few degrees above,
02:23especially because we will have some brisk or strong winds,
02:26and quite a bit of cloud for many of us first thing on Saturday morning.
02:30Otherwise, and as we go through Saturday,
02:31any outbreaks of rain across central southern parts of England and Wales
02:34are likely to push their way a bit further north and westward,
02:37so some outbreaks of rain reaching Northern Ireland,
02:40and a few spots for Northern England and parts of Scotland too.
02:43Maybe something dry and possibly brighter for a time developing later,
02:47but also some further outbreaks of rain quite likely,
02:50and on the whole, it is looking fairly cloudy on Saturday,
02:53and there will be some strong winds to watch out for,
02:56particularly across northern parts,
02:57so again, a significant wind chill in northern areas in particular.
03:01Meanwhile, in the south southeast,
03:02temperatures may be a little bit higher than on both Thursday and Friday,
03:06could be looking at highs of around 14 Celsius.
03:09Later on in the weekend, and we have more wet weather to come,
03:11particularly across southern parts,
03:13likely to see a system pushing its way in as we go through Saturday into Sunday,
03:16bringing some rain for a time.
03:18Further north, a little bit less rain here,
03:20any outbreaks of rain likely to be quite showery,
03:23and so hit or miss some places having some decent dry weather for a time,
03:26and any showers could have a little bit of a wintriness to them,
03:29particularly over higher ground,
03:31but on the whole, a drier picture further north and further south.
