00:00Hello, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Storm Isha continues to bring some very strong winds and heavy rain across the UK through
00:09Sunday night and into Monday morning. It tracks its way north and eastwards across northern
00:13parts of Scotland overnight Sunday and into Monday, but a ridge of high pressure then
00:17starts to develop once it's cleared away through Monday night and into Tuesday. That doesn't
00:22last long though, as the next system is waiting in the wings to bring further wet and windy
00:26weather through the day on Tuesday.
00:29Back to Storm Isha, an amber weather warning is in force across the UK, with some gusts
00:34widely of 50-60mph across the UK, but perhaps as high as 90 across northern parts of Scotland
00:40through the early hours of Monday morning. It will still be a very windy start to the
00:44day on Monday as well, so keep an eye on any warning updates on our website.
00:49Back to Sunday evening's weather, and plenty of rain around. That rain continues to push
00:53its way north and eastwards through Sunday night and into Monday morning, with some clear
00:57spells developing, but it's through those early hours that the winds really start to
01:01pick up, particularly across parts of Scotland into the early hours of Monday morning. Under
01:06any clear skies, temperatures dropping out a little compared to what we've seen over
01:09recent nights, generally around the mid to high single figures, perhaps around 8 or 9
01:14across the southeast under that cloud and rain.
01:17So it'll be a very windy start to the new working week on Monday. Some clear spells
01:21and some sunshine around, but blustery showers push their way in from the west, particularly
01:26heavy across Northern Ireland, into Northern England and parts of Scotland as well, where
01:30we could even see some snow across the high ground.
01:33The best of the sunshine on Monday, definitely across the south and the east, and temperatures
01:36here generally around 10 or 11 degrees, so above average for the time of year. But for
01:41all of us, with a strong northwesterly breeze, that will definitely take the edge off those
01:45temperatures.
01:47Through Monday evening, showers continue to push in from the northwest, so particularly
01:51heavy across Northern Ireland and western Scotland, but further south they will gradually
01:55start to ease as we see that very brief ridge developing. So, some clear spells overnight
01:59and particularly for northern parts of England, a drier and brighter start to Tuesday morning.
02:05It will be turning milder though, under that cloud across the very far south we could see
02:08temperatures here around 7 or 8 degrees by the early morning. But under the clear spells,
02:12temperatures dropping out into the low single figures, maybe even some frost across parts
02:16of Scotland.
02:17So, a brighter start across northern parts of England on Tuesday, but that really doesn't
02:21last long. This next system pushing in from the west through the day on Tuesday, bringing
02:26some very heavy rain to Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland, into northern England
02:30and Wales as well. And after the heavy rain we've seen from Storm Isha, this could exacerbate
02:35some of those flooding impacts.
02:37As well as heavy rain, there will also be some strong winds, particularly through Tuesday
02:41afternoon and into Wednesday, and some mild temperatures too, highs of around 13 or 14
02:46degrees, so definitely above average for the time of year.
02:51Those strong winds likely to continue through Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning,
02:54with weather warnings already in force for that. But you can keep up to date with that
02:57via our social media channels, and don't forget to subscribe to YouTube to never miss a weather
03:01update. Bye bye.
