00:00Hello there, welcome to Wednesday evening weather update. Through the next 12
00:04hours we'll be talking about the risk of ice, hill snow, stronger winds and also
00:09outbreaks of rain. The wind has changed direction bringing in less cold air from
00:15the west but with that strong winds and swells of cloud outbreaks of rain and
00:20also showers. So that's pretty much how we see not only the next few days but
00:25through the weekend and into next week. The weather remains mobile with bands
00:30of cloud, rain and strong winds from time to time. Here are your warning zones
00:34through Wednesday evening and into Thursday. It's mostly rain, some high
00:38rainfall totals but a nice warning overnight into Thursday morning
00:42particularly over the higher ground but down towards the far northeast of
00:45England inland where we see temperatures fall through the first part of Wednesday
00:51evening and then obviously things become sub-zero with the risk of
00:55slippery surfaces or untreated roads and pavements. Now through Wednesday evening
00:59still dry across eastern counties but notice towards the west this batch of
01:03rain, wet and windy for Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, western parts of
01:07Scotland, Wales, the West Country and then we see that rain slip towards the
01:10Midlands pushing up towards the central belt of Scotland and as it encounters
01:14the cold air it will turn to snow above around 400 metres. Remaining cold across
01:19the eastern side of England as we head into tomorrow morning so a chilly start
01:23to the day here and a rather cloudy one but still wet with strong winds across
01:28more southern and western areas. Your warning zone through Thursday then a
01:32warning across Aberdeenshire, Grampian where we could see up to 110
01:36millimetres of rain over hills and the Brecon Beacons will be vulnerable to
01:39some high rainfall totals as well so the risk of some flooding here. So that's the
01:44picture warning wise as we head through Thursday. If you are stepping out on
01:49Thursday morning watch out over High Roots still with a bit of snow there and
01:53also some slippery conditions but there's a lot of rain around and also
01:57strong winds lots of low clouds as well. Now across eastern counties more clouds
02:02a chilly start to the day but Marder further west with further spells of rain
02:06and this rain is only going to intensify as we head through the day on Thursday
02:10as another batch moves in from the west. So through Thursday morning there will
02:16be a lot of lower cloud particularly over the higher routes and so there could
02:20be some tricky driving conditions if you are out and about. It's going to be a
02:23windy day wherever you are and the risk of coastal gales particularly towards
02:27the west. This next area of rain is quite intense topping up those rainfall levels
02:33as it pushes ever northeastwards. Dry skies is from East Midlands down towards
02:38the southeast where we'll see cloudier skies through the day. Rain will only
02:42reach these parts later as it dries up across Northern Ireland but this massive
02:46wet weather continues to affect Scotland, Northern England down the spine of the
02:50country towards the Midlands, Mid Wales through the afternoon. Strong winds to
02:55boot the winds will pick up from the southeast across Shetland, Orkney as well
02:59as Aberdeenshire and watch out for these rainfall totals across eastern parts of
03:03Scotland into Thursday evening where the rain will persist. By this point it will
03:07turn very wet across eastern counties and then a bit of a respite still very
03:11windy and then showers come in associated with this area of low
03:15pressure. So it turns showery into Friday morning as the rain becomes confined
03:20through the early hours to Shetland as well as Orkney. Temperatures holding up
03:24though not as cold as the last week as we've seen we've seen some very severe
03:28frost. We're mostly frost free away from probably the very highest peaks of
03:33Scotland. Here's your outlook then through a Friday yes more rain on its
03:38way brighter skies towards more eastern areas of the country that's the
03:41southeast where you could even see a little bit of brightness and even some
03:45sunshine. Stay tuned to the forecast and we'll keep you updated on all the
03:49weather as we head into the weekend and beyond.
