00:00Hello there. We're covering a snow across many northern and western areas as we head
00:05into Friday. There are snow and ice warnings in force. Not only that, throughout the day
00:10a biting wind delivering more showers and they will have a wintry flavour to them. Snow
00:16particularly towards the north and the west and wintry further south. Now let's take a
00:20look at the bigger picture. You can see how many ice bars are covering the country. The
00:24wind coming in from a cold direction. Lots of showers just tracking across. We could
00:29see some showery rain for a time towards the south west as well with snow over the
00:33moors before this area of cloud and rain tracks across on Saturday delivering yet again more
00:40cloud, rain, hill snow particularly across Scotland and a strong wind. But things turn
00:45less cold through the weekend with even a little sunshine as we head into Sunday. For
00:50the time being though, these are your snow warnings, ice warnings for Friday. Extending
00:56across much of the western side of the north including Northern Ireland and through the
01:01day yes wherever you are it's going to be quite slippery particularly if you catch those
01:05snow showers. So through Thursday evening first of all we can focus on the rain towards
01:10the south east which will clear with some clearer skies and a frost forming. Elsewhere
01:15it's just a bitterly cold night and steadily these wintry showers will turn to snow. So
01:20expect some more accumulations particularly with height but even at lower levels for a
01:25time. Slippery surfaces, the risk of ice and that cold biting wind. Temperatures then
01:31in the towns and cities hovering around zero so they are going to be sub zero particularly
01:36in shelter in rural spots. So first thing then on Friday morning if you're stepping
01:41outside watch out for those snow showers, a covering of snow, the risk of ice but perhaps
01:46some brighter skies to start the day across the eastern side of Scotland. Lying snow though
01:52for the central belt down towards the southern uplands and further snow showers coming in
01:56across Northern Ireland, much of Pennine districts as well as Wales. A scattered affair down
02:01here as well as some wintry showers for the west country through the morning. Brighter
02:05skies further east across the Midlands, East Anglia, the south east but it will be a very
02:09cold start to the day. So through Friday a significant wind chill with that cold and
02:15biting wind. Showers really pushing quite quickly across the country but fewer towards
02:21the eastern side. But then later on notice an area of showery rain extends from the southern
02:26part of Wales down towards central southern England covering much of the west country
02:30and here we could see some snow particularly over the higher ground. Elsewhere brighter
02:35skies again to end the day towards the east as the shower intensity wanes towards more
02:40western areas of Scotland, Northern Ireland, North West England as well as Wales. Cold
02:44everywhere, sub zero temperatures if you add on the wind. Yes it's going to feel very
02:49cold indeed. So that's the picture through Friday daytime. Through Friday night again
02:54a frost will form fairly widespread as the winds fall light and then this next system
02:59comes in from the west bringing with it some milder air. So yes we will see some hill snow
03:06into Friday across the highlands of Scotland. Perhaps the peaks of the Pennines but the
03:10snow line will be a lot higher. Hence the reason you'll see more in the way of wet
03:14weather, rain at lower levels and extending across the country through Saturday. The winds
03:19will pick up some strength as well and then showers will follow as we head through to
03:24Saturday afternoon. Some sunshine perhaps behind that rain band as it clears away. It
03:29is going to be a cold day but not as cold as the past few days and in fact on Sunday
03:34some brighter skies, still quite a brisk breeze with showers towards the north west.
