00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:03Through Wednesday, many areas seeing some sunshine after a chilly start, however an
00:08area of low pressure will bring wet and windy conditions to Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:13through the day.
00:14This area of high pressure gets squeezed out the way as this low pressure system moves
00:18in across the northern half of the UK through the latter part of Wednesday.
00:22You can see here the ice bars are tightly packed together so expect some strong winds,
00:26gusty winds at that, coastal gales across the far north into Thursday.
00:30And there will be a weak weather front just trailing across the West Country, Wales, the
00:35Midlands up towards the South East of Scotland through Thursday and Friday so you could see
00:39some low clouds, some patchy drizzle, some pulses of rain even either side, some brighter
00:44weather.
00:45For the time being, the Met Office has issued a warning for thunderstorms across the South
00:49East, anywhere from East Anglia down towards Central and Southern England.
00:53This area of rain as well gradually clears the scene, but still a keen breeze coming
00:58in from the North North East overnight and an overhang of clouds keeping temperatures
01:02up.
01:03Elsewhere, clearer skies, temperatures falling away very quickly, it's going to be a cold
01:07night with some pockets of grass and air frost, particularly across central parts of Scotland,
01:13even the far north of England as well as Northern Ireland.
01:16But this canopy of cloud temperatures here, probably around 13, 14, 15 degrees Celsius.
01:21But a breezy start to the day across eastern counties and one or two showers can't be
01:24ruled out through the day towards the South East.
01:27Fine weather anywhere from Shetland right the way down through Scotland, hazy sunshine
01:32for Northern Ireland first thing on Wednesday morning, chilly here though and that sunshine
01:36does emerge also across the bulk of England and Wales away from this southeastern corner
01:42where yes again you'll see more in the way of clouds, it can be rather stubborn.
01:46And again, as I said, those showers just coming and going, particularly across Kent
01:50as well as Essex through the day.
01:53Elsewhere, it's a fine day, but that sunshine's tending to fade away across Scotland as the
01:58cloud thickens.
01:59By lunchtime, we'll see a burst of the rain move in across Northern Ireland, western Scotland
02:03as well, a few showers ahead of it.
02:06And notice this wind really picking up some strength from the south as we head through
02:10the afternoon.
02:11But anywhere from probably Yorkshire across much of England and Wales through the afternoon,
02:16fine conditions, patchy clouds, some sunshine, temperatures the high teens, low twenties,
02:21feeling cool under this wet and wintry weather, which will be relentless through Wednesday
02:26evening.
02:27You can see persistent pulses coming in across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, pushing
02:31ever eastwards as well as northwards.
02:34Squeeze on the ice bars even into Thursday across the far north, coastal gales here.
02:39Elsewhere, the winds ease a little bit, but we will see that cloud just straddling the
02:44central spine of the country.
02:45But for Scotland, some brighter weather, one or two showers coming through and temperatures
02:50slightly higher than Wednesday, 17 to 18 degrees Celsius.
02:54Some patchy rain and drizzle across the central swath of England and Wales.
02:57Either side, you'll see some brighter weather and feeling relatively warm in any sunshine,
03:01particularly towards the southeast.
03:03I'll see you later.
