00:00Welcome to your national weather update. A fine Thursday for the majority. We are
00:04going to see things clouding over a little bit by Friday. That's because
00:08there's a lot of cloud out in the Atlantic and that's where all our
00:11weather is coming from at the moment. Before that arrives we actually had this
00:14weather front crossing the country through the night. It made for quite a wet
00:18start across the southeast. That rain slowly edging away but it is a
00:22cold front so it's introduced cooler fresher air as you may well have noticed.
00:26There are some showers coming in across Scotland. One or two heavy ones likely
00:29this afternoon over eastern Scotland, maybe northeast England. That rain
00:33taking until the middle of the afternoon before it clears completely from Kent.
00:37The odd shower scattered over northern England, Northern Ireland, southern
00:41Scotland but most places dry. Sunny spells for much of England, Wales and
00:45Northern Ireland as well and in that sunshine temperatures we're getting to a
00:49roundabout average. As I mentioned it's fresher air, it's less humid so
00:53really pretty pleasant I suspect in the sunny spells. High teens across the north
00:58further south and east maybe into the low 20s, 23-24 just about possible across
01:02the southeast. Temperatures will dip away fairly quickly this evening and what
01:07will be largely clear skies. Any showers fading from eastern Scotland. Some more
01:12will come into northwest Scotland and then we'll start to see the cloud
01:15thickening from the west. That cloud we saw earlier on the satellite image
01:18overnight bringing rain to Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England. The
01:22breeze picking up here too. For most though it'll be a dry night and in that
01:26fresher air reasonably comfortable night. Temperatures into single figures
01:30in rural spots, most towns and cities 10 to 14 Celsius. On to Friday and it should
01:36start bright enough over much of the Midlands, eastern Northern England, eastern
01:40Scotland waking up to a bit of sunshine but further west fairly dull and damp.
01:44A pretty dismal start over south Wales, southwest England. Rain and drizzle on
01:48and off here and that rain simply becoming more extensive pushing more
01:52widely into parts of Scotland across northern England too. Now parts of the
01:56east of England probably not seeing much rain at all and the rain will be
01:59fairly patchy across the Midlands and it'll probably ease off actually over
02:03Wales so looking a bit drier here through the afternoon. But for many it's
02:07a fairly drab day, a pretty cloudy day and won't be a huge amount of sunshine.
02:12The breeze will be picking up as well and it will feel a bit cooler again.
02:15Temperatures mostly only in the high teens perhaps squeaking into the low 20s
02:19across the southeast if we hang on to some brighter spells here. So through
02:24Friday evening many of us will be a bit drab, a bit overcast. Rain and drizzle on
02:29and off particularly over Scotland, Northern Ireland and fairly breezy around some
02:33western coast as well. The winds will be a feature of the weather actually through
02:35much of the weekend. It is going to be kind of bright and breezy weekend for
02:39most. The weather fronts bringing the cloud and rain in tomorrow tend to drift
02:43through but the low pressure responsible kind of hangs around across northern
02:48Scotland that generating quite a gusty feel through the weekend Saturday and
02:53Sunday over northern Scotland especially. Nothing exceptional but unusual for the
02:57time of year. So some strong winds over northern Scotland, some heavy rain here
03:01as well from this area of low pressure. For many though it will be just a bright
03:05and breezy weekend, many places staying dry with some sunny spells. We'll have a
03:09full weekend forecast for you on YouTube by Thursday afternoon so don't forget to
03:14hit subscribe.
