Transcript
00:00It will get a bit brighter as we go through the weekend.
00:02But for Friday, it's a fairly drab affair.
00:05Most of us seeing outbreaks of rain and drizzle
00:07through much of the day.
00:08This big chunk of cloud has been ambling its way in
00:12from the Atlantic, providing nothing too heavy in terms
00:15of rainfall.
00:15But as I say, a pretty dull and damp start in the west.
00:19We had some brightness earlier on in the east, but even here,
00:21the cloud is now spilling in and most places
00:24seeing rain on and off through much of the afternoon.
00:27Probably not much getting to East Anglia,
00:29so generally staying dry here.
00:31It is, as a result of the cloud and the rain,
00:33a bit cooler than it has been, certainly a lot cooler
00:35than it has been for most of this month.
00:37Temperatures in the high teens across the north,
00:39maybe low 20s across the southeast.
00:42It's going to be a pretty warm and humid night, however,
00:44staying fairly damp if you're heading out this evening
00:47with further outbreaks of rain to come.
00:49And eventually, we'll see some trickling into East Anglia too.
00:52But I think the heavier outbreaks of rain,
00:55really only over the hills.
00:56And it does all turn a bit drier as we go through the night.
00:59It'll stay pretty cloudy.
01:01It'll stay quite breezy on western coasts as well.
01:03And as I said, it will be quite a warm night,
01:05particularly in the east of England.
01:07Temperatures staying 15, 16, maybe 17 degrees,
01:10whereas it will turn a little cooler further north and west.
01:13On to the details for Saturday.
01:15It is a pretty drab start.
01:16Again, a lot of cloud around first thing on Saturday.
01:20And it's going to get quite windy across northern Scotland.
01:22Those winds really picking up tonight
01:24and staying blustery through the day.
01:26Plenty of showers coming in here throughout,
01:27and it could be a pretty wet day in Shetland.
01:30But the rest of the UK cheering up after that grey start.
01:34Still a few showers zipping through Northern Ireland
01:37into parts of northern England,
01:38particularly to the west of the Pennines,
01:40but a good part of eastern England,
01:42the Midlands, Wales, southern England.
01:43It'll brighten up with sunny spells.
01:45Bright and breezy really sums up Saturday afternoon.
01:47And temperatures will be a little bit higher
01:50than today's in most places.
01:51Still a little cooler than average on western coasts,
01:54but inlands with a bit of sunshine
01:57getting into the low 20s, 22, 23,
01:59maybe a 24 across the southeast.
02:01Feeling colder though with the gusty winds
02:03and the outbreaks of rain across the far north of Scotland.
02:06That will continue through Saturday night
02:08and into Sunday as well.
02:10Getting very blustery here, further showers coming in
02:13and a cooler feel for Sunday as well.
02:15This line of rain is being caused by weather fronts,
02:18this area of low pressure
02:19responsible for the strong and gusty winds.
02:22And it's sticking around through Sunday as well.
02:25So still bringing showers and gusty winds across Scotland
02:28and increasingly perhaps to parts of Northern Ireland
02:31during Sunday.
02:32So there will be some showers around on Sunday.
02:34Again, a good part of England,
02:35Wales likely to just be dry, bright and breezy,
02:38but unusually windy across Northern Scotland
02:42with some showers around as well.
02:43More details as always.
