00:00Hello, welcome to your national weather updates.
00:02There are signs of the weather settling down
00:05as we go towards the Jubilee weekend.
00:07However, before that, plenty of showers
00:10over the next few days.
00:11Here's the rather messy image from space.
00:14A fair bit of cloud around.
00:15Plenty of showers across the north initially.
00:17Further south, we've had a largely dry start to Monday,
00:20but the showers are now starting to get going.
00:22And nowhere, I don't think,
00:24immune from the downpours this afternoon.
00:26We'll certainly see plenty over eastern England,
00:28northern England, southern Scotland
00:30and northeast Scotland.
00:31They're the main focus areas.
00:33Elsewhere, the showers are a bit more scattered.
00:35So some dry and bright weather,
00:37hint of sunshine coming through at times as well.
00:40But it's not warm,
00:42especially where it's cloudy with the showers.
00:43Temperature's really struggling,
00:45even not getting into the teens in places.
00:47Perhaps into the high teens
00:48with a bit of sunshine across parts of the south,
00:51but generally pretty disappointing for the time of year.
00:54Still more heavy showers to come this evening as well.
00:57So you may get caught in a downpour
00:59through the evening time.
01:00The showers just gradually milling around
01:03because the winds are fairly light
01:05and will keep some showers going in many places overnight.
01:08Where we get some clearer skies in eastern Scotland,
01:11temperatures could drop down to three or four Celsius.
01:13And many places down to single figures,
01:15it will be a cool start to Tuesday,
01:18which will be another day of watching the showers develop.
01:21Probably a dry start in Northern Ireland,
01:23but it won't be a dry finish.
01:25And elsewhere, we'll see the showers getting going
01:27pretty rapidly through the morning.
01:29Again, some pretty heavy ones
01:31across central and eastern parts of England
01:33and central parts of Scotland.
01:35One area or a couple of areas
01:37that may not see too many showers,
01:38South Wales, South West England,
01:40certainly looking mostly dry and bright
01:42on Tuesday afternoon.
01:42That's where we could easily see
01:44the top temperatures 18, maybe 19 degrees.
01:46Generally a touch warmer than today,
01:49but still for most 14, 15 is below average
01:52for the time of year and cooler
01:53on some of those North Sea coasts.
01:56We will see more wet weather pushing into Northern Ireland
01:58during Tuesday evening.
01:59So as I said here, after maybe a dry start,
02:02it's gonna be a wet end to the day.
02:03Elsewhere, the showers perhaps fading
02:05through Tuesday evening,
02:06leading to again a bit of a chilly start on Wednesday.
02:10But low pressure is still with us through Wednesday,
02:13but it is being moved away slowly
02:15by a fairly weak looking area of high pressure.
02:18At times, weather front's just threatening
02:20to drift in as well.
02:21So as we go into the long weekend,
02:24there will still be some showers around
02:26on Thursday and Friday,
02:27but the overall trend is for high pressure
02:30to be moving in, settling the weather down,
02:32bringing a lot of dry and fine weather,
02:34it looks like over the long weekend.
02:36And of course it's June,
02:37it will be by the time we get into the weekend.
02:39And so any sunshine is gonna feel pretty warm.
