00:00After a pretty drab Friday most of us will have something a bit brighter for
00:04the weekend. A bit of sunshine here and there but it will be in places quite
00:08breezy, particularly so in northern Scotland. This area of low pressure generating
00:12some unseasonably strong winds across the far north and northwest. But the
00:17weather fronts are heading away out into the North Sea so the cloud and rain
00:20we've seen during Friday is tending to edge away. But leaving behind still
00:26quite a lot of clouds. It will be quite a grey start to Saturday morning. It will
00:30be a fairly warm start as well with temperatures not dropping below about
00:3415 or 16 Celsius across parts of the east. Further west maybe down to 12 or
00:3913. So on to the details for the weekend. I did promise something a bit brighter
00:43but initially it is going to be fairly grey. So stick with it. The skies will
00:47brighten through the day but initially a lot of clouds, some rain and drizzle here
00:51and there as well. One place likely to see frequent showers the Highlands of
00:55Scotland. Gusty winds here as well. So not really a day for the mountains but
00:59actually to the east of Scotland through the central belt. Pretty well sheltered
01:04here so many places dry and bright. One or two showers drifting through Northern
01:08Ireland but zipping through fairly quickly and any showers over northwest
01:11England. Mostly across Cumbria. A good part of England and Wales. As I said brightening up
01:16sunny spells. Yes there's a bit of a breeze blowing bringing a fresher feel
01:20but still temperatures getting to roundabout average or maybe even a little
01:24bit above across the southeast where highs of 23 maybe even 24 degrees
01:28Celsius are likely. Further north we're looking at temperatures closer to or
01:33perhaps even a little below average and certainly with that gusty wind across
01:35northwestern parts of Scotland it'll feel fresh. And in Shetland could be a
01:39very wet day here with a stubborn weather front nearby and temperatures
01:43struggling to get above about 14 Celsius. Now we'll still have some wet
01:47weather across northern Scotland during Saturday night and the winds will
01:50strengthen further getting very gusty here and for Sunday in fact across much
01:54of Scotland a blustery day. The winds picking up at times too for the north
01:58coast of Northern Ireland into northwest England where we will continue to see
02:02some showers drifting in on Sunday. So you may get wet but again they'll tend
02:06to zip through fairly smartly on the breeze. Plenty of showers for western
02:10Scotland and as I said it will be very gusty here during Sunday. But for the
02:15south again most places not seeing a shower generally just dry and bright
02:20some good spells of sunshine for South Wales, the Midlands, southern England and
02:23East Anglia. So a fine weekend here with temperatures in the southeast on Sunday
02:2922 maybe 23 degrees Celsius. Generally elsewhere a little cooler compared to
02:33Saturday we're more likely to see temperatures into the high teens at best
02:37and feeling fresher with that wind. So plenty going on with the weather through
02:42the course of the weekend. Make sure you keep up to date and we'll be looking at
02:46things into next week by the time we get to Sunday. So make sure you're following
02:49us across social media for more updates.
