00:00Changes are on the way with the weather.
00:02It's going to get hotter this weekend, more humid,
00:04and there's an increasing chance of seeing some thunderstorms.
00:08The view from space shows a swirl of cloud,
00:11and in here is an area of low pressure,
00:13not moving straight towards the UK, just influencing things,
00:17pushing away the area of high pressure
00:19that's been dominating for so long.
00:21And it's introducing that hotter air, that more humid air,
00:26and all the ingredients for some thundery showers.
00:29Chance of one or two showers through today,
00:31mostly over Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly.
00:33For the vast majority, it's going to stay dry, fine,
00:35and sunny.
00:36But yet again, that east coast plagued
00:39by mist and low cloud and a cool breeze from the North Sea.
00:43So on the coast, we will again struggle
00:45to get much beyond 12, 13, 14 Celsius.
00:48Inland in the sunshine, though, closer to 20 Celsius.
00:51The top temperature somewhere across central parts
00:54of southern England, 27, possibly even 28 degrees
00:58Celsius, and many areas in the south will be into the mid 20s.
01:02So pretty warm in that sunshine, but as I say,
01:05that heat and humidity building and bringing
01:07an increasing chance of heavy showers
01:09tonight over the southwest.
01:11Hit and miss, but some places could see a real downpour.
01:14We may get woken up by a rumble of thunder
01:16or a flash of lightning.
01:18Much of the UK will again be dry,
01:20but mist and low cloud will again just seep back inland
01:23towards parts of the Midlands, eastern Scotland,
01:25and eastern England.
01:26So again, here, a fairly drab starts to the weekend.
01:29Clearer skies, of course, northern Scotland
01:31will allow temperatures to drop well down into single figures.
01:34But in the south, that humidity continues to build.
01:37It can be a pretty warm night with temperatures
01:40holding in the mid teens.
01:42On to Saturday, plenty going on.
01:44As I say, we start pretty drab over the Midlands,
01:47parts of northeast England, eastern Scotland.
01:49Again, some coastal areas will hang on to that mist all day.
01:53For many, it is another fine, very warm, sunny day.
01:58But look at this, showers breaking out.
02:01Now, this is summertime showers.
02:03They're going to be hit and miss.
02:04You can see not everywhere seeing them in this zone
02:06across Wales and the Midlands towards parts
02:09of eastern England.
02:10But that is the area most at risk from some downpours.
02:14And where we see them, big thunderstorms
02:16could cause some disruption.
02:17So we do have a Met Office yellow warning in place,
02:19dropping a lot of rain in a short space of time.
02:22The ground is pretty hard now because you
02:24haven't had rain for a while.
02:25So that could cause some flooding issues.
02:27So the potential for some disruption
02:29from these thunderstorms, but not everywhere in the warning
02:32zone, we'll see them.
02:33For many, it will just be another fine and pretty warm
02:36day.
02:37Look at these temperatures.
02:37Eastern areas haven't seen these temperatures
02:39for quite some time.
02:41After struggling in the low teens,
02:43we'll be into the low, mid, even high 20s.
02:46And we could squeak up to 30 Celsius
02:48somewhere just to the north of London, most likely.
02:51Not as hot further south and west.
02:52Quite a murky day in southwest England.
02:55And as I mentioned, some of those coasts
02:56in the northeast likely to stay pretty dry.
02:59But plenty of fine sunshine across the northwest
03:01of Scotland.
03:02Continued risk of those thundery showers
03:04over parts of Wales, the Midlands,
03:07spreading north, maybe to northwest England,
03:09towards Northern Ireland during the evening time.
03:12So bear that in mind if heading out on Saturday night.
03:14It's all caused by this little weather front pushing
03:16northwards.
03:17But the high pressure isn't too far away.
03:19Trying to come back across the UK.
03:22But those southerly winds bringing the warmth,
03:24bringing the moisture, continue as we head through Sunday.
03:28So again, Sunday is going to be a case of many places dry
03:32and fine with some sunshine.
03:33But there will be heavy showers.
03:34The greatest risk Sunday morning, probably
03:36northwestern parts of Scotland.
03:38But then through the day, the heat could build.
03:40And again, further thunderstorms potentially
03:42being sparked over the Midlands, Wales,
03:45and some other parts of England, perhaps in the afternoon too.
03:49Eastern areas, again, seeing the highest temperatures.
03:51Mid to high 20s, cooler further west.
03:54But everywhere will be fairly warm and fairly humid feeling.
03:58So as I said, plenty going on with the weather
04:00through this weekend.
04:01We are seeing some changes.
04:03Many areas won't see the thunderstorms.
04:04But where they do occur, they could cause some problems.
04:07So keep up to date with the very latest.
04:09And check out our warnings on our app and on our website.
