09 August - National weather forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Welcome to your national weather update with me, Alex Deakin.
00:02Lots more sunshine to come and very little rainfall.
00:06That goes for not just Tuesday, but in fact, for most of this
00:09week, thanks to this large area of high pressure
00:12that continues to dominate.
00:14Weather front's just dancing close to northern Scotland.
00:16We'll bring a bit of patchy rain and a bit more cloud at times.
00:19But for most of that high pressure holding on,
00:21temperatures rising day on day, we
00:22could tap into some hotter air come the end of the week.
00:25And just the chance that this low pressure system
00:28may mix things up, but that's more likely
00:31as we go into next week.
00:32For the time being, dry and clear for the vast majority
00:35as we head into Tuesday.
00:36Now, weather front's still bringing some outbreaks
00:38of rain across the highlands of Scotland, the Northern Isles,
00:41and the Western Isles through the night.
00:42Temperatures, well, mostly 12 to 15 Celsius, so warmish.
00:46But temperatures by day and by night
00:49are going to be rising as we go through the rest of this week.
00:53Into Tuesday morning, any early morning mist and fog
00:55will be just that, disappearing very rapidly
00:58once the sun comes up.
00:59And I suspect most of the rain will
01:01clear from northern Scotland through the morning,
01:03too, maybe lingering in Shetland into the afternoon.
01:05But generally, it's dry.
01:07Yes, still fairly cloudy across the northwest.
01:09But for much of eastern, central, southern Scotland,
01:11Northern Ireland, and England and Wales,
01:14it is, again, sunny and hot with temperatures in the south,
01:18particularly in the high 20s, low 30s, possibly a little
01:21cooler further north.
01:22But even these temperatures are higher than Monday's values
01:25into the mid-20s over eastern Scotland and eastern parts
01:28of Northern Ireland.
01:29We will see the winds picking up across the northwest,
01:31getting quite blustery here.
01:33Maybe still one or two light showers
01:34across the far northwest as we head through Tuesday evening.
01:37Otherwise, it's a fine balmy Tuesday evening.
01:41And again, staying dry and clear as we
01:43head into Wednesday morning.
01:45Temperatures just a little bit higher.
01:47And again, that's going to be a feature of the weather,
01:49getting a bit more uncomfortable for sleeping
01:51as the week wears on.
01:53And again, Wednesday is a blue sky day
01:55for the vast majority across the highlands of Scotland.
01:58I suspect we'll see more sunshine.
02:00And in Orkney, with some sunshine,
02:02we could get up to 20 Celsius on Wednesday.
02:04Still fairly windy across the far northwest.
02:08But elsewhere, again, light winds and rising temperatures.
02:11Wednesday afternoon sees values more into the mid to high 20s
02:16and potentially up into the low 30s across the southeast.
02:19So lots of hot and sunny weather to come.
02:22Another balmy summer's evening on Wednesday evening.
02:25Still a bit more cloud across the far northwest
02:27and still quite windy here at times.
02:29But that high pressure is likely to hold on.
