00:00Hello, the weather is on the change and for most of us, a pretty dramatic change as well.
00:06Thursday compared to Wednesday, much cloudier and as a result, quite a bit cooler.
00:11There'll still be some sunny spells and when the sun's out, it'll still be warmer than
00:14average but temperatures will be down compared to the very high temperatures we've seen through
00:18Tuesday and Wednesday.
00:20The biggest change though, the most dramatic change is that many of us will see heavy downpours
00:26and even some thunderstorms.
00:27Metal Face Yellow warnings in place.
00:30Why the change?
00:31Well, high pressure is finally melting away to the east and this low is just slowly chugging
00:36its way northwards, bringing with it bands of heavy thundery showers.
00:41We've already seen some disruption from the thunderstorms across the southwest of England
00:46and those thundery downpours simply becoming more widespread.
00:50Bands of them drifting northwards through the night, we're likely to see some heavy
00:54thundery showers breaking out across parts of eastern England during the early hours,
00:58staying a bit damp across the Northern Isles and the Western Isles but actually much of
01:01Scotland will probably have a dry night.
01:04It will be another very warm night as well with temperatures likely to stick in the mid
01:08or even high teens, certainly in many urban areas.
01:12So it will be a warm start to Thursday but instead of the sunny skies that many of us
01:17have had for the past couple of days, expect a lot more cloud and expect some downpours
01:23as well.
01:24Bands of showers then drifting northwards, quickly developing across parts of southern
01:27and eastern Scotland, staying fairly damp across the Northern Isles and then we'll see
01:31showers developing quite widely across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
01:35Fairly slow moving, heavy downpours, thunderstorms in places, dropping a lot of rain in a short
01:41space of time.
01:42Now, it won't rain everywhere all day.
01:44There'll be some places that dodge the worst of the showers and have some decent spars
01:48of sunshine.
01:49Probably not too many showers across east Anglia and the southeast.
01:52Matter of fact, we do have yellow thunderstorm warning in place covering a large chunk of
01:57the country.
01:58It doesn't mean everywhere in this zone is going to see the downpours.
02:01It just means this is the area at greatest risk from seeing thunderstorms that could
02:05drop a large amount of rain in a short space of time, creating potentially local flooding
02:10and certainly some disruption to travel.
02:12Certainly not very great on the roads if you catch a thunderstorm.
02:16Temperature wise, well, actually still pretty high for the time of year.
02:20Of course, eastern England where we see some sunshine and temperatures getting into the
02:23mid 20s once more, but generally back closer to average and for many, certainly a lot cooler
02:29than the first half of the week.
02:31Through Thursday evening, still those thunderstorms rumble on and many places will continue to
02:36catch some heavy downpours.
02:38But through the night, they'll tend to ease off across many central and eastern parts.
02:42And then to Friday, it'll be a similar kind of story with a lot of cloud around and we'll
02:47watch further heavy showers developing.
02:49There'll be some from the start of Wales and southwest England, but again, more widely
02:54from mid-morning onwards as the sun gets to work, the clouds will bubble up and we'll
02:57see the showers developing.
02:59And again, there'll be hit and miss, but again, the potential for thunderstorms.
03:04There will be some sunshine, though, again, between the showers and when the sun's out.
03:07Temperatures again, of course, eastern England getting into the low or even mid 20s.
03:11Elsewhere, generally high teens or low 20s.
03:14There's the low pressure system sitting around through Friday.
03:17Hence why we'll see more showers.
03:18It is showing signs, though, of disappearing for the weekend.
03:22Slowly but surely, an air of high pressure may start to edge in.
03:27So through the weekend, still some showers, but generally looking a lot drier than the
03:31next couple of days.
03:32Keep up to date with those Met Office yellow weather warnings.
03:35Best way to do that, download the app or, of course, subscribe to our YouTube channels.
