00:00Hello, welcome to your National Weather Update, a Friday with largely sunny skies.
00:05And for most of us, that will continue through the weekend, all thanks to this area of high pressure.
00:10We know it well by now, it's been dominating our weather for most of this week.
00:14And the winds around that high are still coming in from the North Sea.
00:18Now, it's not as grey here as it has been over recent days, but still with the breeze off the sea,
00:23the coast will be chilly. On the beaches, probably only 14 or 15.
00:27But you won't have to come too far inland, places like Lincoln up to the High Teens.
00:32Further west, though, that's where we'll see the top temperatures, some spots getting up to 21, 22.
00:36Generally, a little bit lower than they were on Thursday, those temperatures.
00:40But most places also seeing sunny skies, and it is a sunnier day in the east.
00:44There's still some cloud clinging to parts of the east, and some of the coasts may just stay a little misty.
00:49But for the majority, it will be fine and sunny. At times, too, some cloud coming into the northwest of Scotland.
00:56Through the evening and overnight, some of that cloud could just trickle back inland over parts of eastern England.
01:01But again, not as extensive as recent nights, and temperatures will drop away under those clear skies down into single digits.
01:08So a cooler start to the weekend. But for most, it will be a sunny weekend.
01:13Again, some parts of central and eastern England likely to be pretty drab early on.
01:19But that cloud should lift and break quite quickly through the morning.
01:23So by late morning, it's looking sunny for the vast majority.
01:26The main exception through the weekend will be northern Scotland, even a spot or two of drizzle possible over the northern isles.
01:32But for most places, apart from a bit of fair weather cloud bubbling up through the day, it's fine with lots of strong sunshine.
01:40We're into June now, so the sun is strong in terms of UV levels.
01:44They're going to be high this weekend, so make sure you've got the hat and the sunscreen ready.
01:49In terms of temperature, well, they will be a little bit higher, I suspect, on Saturday compared to Friday.
01:53Again, in western areas, that's also the top temperatures up to 23, maybe 24.
01:58Again, some coasts, particularly with the breeze off the sea, will be a little cooler.
02:03And across northern Scotland, where there will be that thicker cloud, which sticks around during Saturday evening.
02:08Again, just perhaps trickling a little further south.
02:11But again, most places having a very fine Saturday evening if you're heading out.
02:16It will be turning quite fresh again for Sunday morning.
02:19But again, most places, Sunday looks sunny with temperatures once more, certainly inland getting into the 20s pretty widely.
02:27Now, east coast again will be a little bit cooler, but generally looking sunny for most of us through the course of this weekend.
02:33As I said, UV levels are high, pollen levels, grass pollen levels are also going to be high across England and Wales.
02:39For more details on that, make sure you're following us across social media.
