00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest national weather forecast from the Met Office. Saturday
00:05saw plenty of heavy showers and thunderstorms across the UK. Will there be more through
00:10the rest of the weekend? Well, yes, low pressure sits to the west of us drawing in warm air
00:14from the south. However, this low pressure then moves across us as we head towards Monday
00:19and Tuesday, introducing fresher air from the northwest, but still the risk of further
00:25showers.
00:27For the rest of Saturday, heavy showers and thunderstorms continue to push north and eastwards
00:31across the UK, perhaps merging to give some longer spells of heavy rain across Scotland,
00:35some local disruption possible here, but turning dry behind it, clear spells developing and
00:41quite a muggy night to come, particularly in the east. Lows around 17 to 19 degrees,
00:47but in the west 14 or 15 degrees, perhaps a little lower in the countryside with a light
00:52breeze, particularly around the coasts.
00:54So a bright start for many on Sunday morning, still that heavy rain across north-east Scotland
00:59only slowly edging northwards and then also a pulse of heavy rain possible across south-east
01:05England. But for many through the day, it's a case of sunny spells and scattered showers.
01:10Some of the showers will be heavy, particularly across parts of Northern Ireland. If we zoom
01:14in there, Met Office warning in force, some hail, gusty winds, some local flooding possible
01:20here and heavy showers also across parts of Wales, the Midlands into south-west England
01:25too. So if you are travelling, it is worth taking extra care on the roads through Sunday
01:31afternoon. Temperature wise, a little lower compared to Saturday, but still feeling quite
01:36warm and humid. Highs of 25 or 26 towards the south and east, a little fresher towards
01:42the north-west. Temperatures generally in the low 20s here. Those showers continue to
01:48rumble on through Sunday evening, some heavy bursts possible, but they do ease by the end
01:53of the day and then overnight, it's generally dry for most with clear spells, just a scattering
01:59of showers largely in the south and the west, just one or two across north-east Scotland
02:04as well. A little fresher on Sunday night, temperatures, towns and cities 14 or 15 degrees,
02:10so a bit more comfortable for sleeping. And a bright start Monday morning, plenty of sunny
02:15spells, but as that low pressure just edges a little bit further eastwards, we will see
02:20an increasing risk of some heavy rain through western parts of the UK. A little bit of uncertainty
02:25where this main band of rain will end up by Monday afternoon. Around it, we'll see a mixture
02:30of sunny spells and heavy showers. Some of these will be thundery for Northern Ireland,
02:35parts of Scotland too. Best of any sunnier breaks possible across eastern and south-east
02:40England and this is where we'll see the highest temperatures getting up to around 23 or 24
02:45Celsius, fresher further north and the west, generally the high teens at best, locally
02:50low 20s. So there's quite a lot going on with our weather at the moment, lots of heavy showers
02:56around, some thunderstorms, so it is worth staying up to date with the latest information
03:00on our social media channels, on our website and on our app. See you again soon.
