00:00Hello there, I'm Greg Jewhurst and welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office.

00:05Well, it's another day of sunshine and showers across the whole of the UK. The reason for

00:10this is, well, this area of low pressure, which has been with us all week and continues

00:15to hold on to our weather over the next few days, only slowly pushing its way eastward,

00:21so further sunshine and showers to come.

00:24So looking at the details for the rest of Wednesday, we will see a mixture of sunny

00:28spells scattered showers across many parts of the UK. The showers once again could be

00:32heavy at times, the risk of some hail, some thunder, perhaps a localised flooding, surface

00:37spray on the roads could lead to some disruption where those showers turn heavy.

00:41But in between, we will see some sunny spells across the UK and this will lift temperatures

00:46generally into the low 20s, still perhaps 23 or 24 across east and south-east England,

00:52so feeling still quite humid here. Gusty winds though across the west and the south-west

00:56just making it feel a little bit fresher.

00:59As we move through Wednesday evening, further showers across the whole of the UK, some rumbles

01:03of thunder continuing. However, we could see some drier slots developing across the Midlands

01:07into northern England, perhaps later on into Northern Ireland too. But for many, showers

01:12will continue overnight. The odd rumble of thunder is possible still, so don't be surprised

01:17to be woken up in the middle of the night.

01:19But once again, another warm and humid night for the time of year across the whole of the

01:23UK, 14, 15, 16 Celsius in the towns and cities, a little bit lower than this in the countryside.

01:31Showers from the word go across parts of Wales, central, southern England. Also, Scotland

01:34seeing some very heavy showers to start Thursday morning. But in between, there will be some

01:38sunny spells, but into the afternoon, showers will bubble up here too. And just like the

01:43last few days, these showers could be heavy at times, some rumbles of thunder, hail, gusty

01:47winds as well, leading to some disruption. Perhaps later on in the afternoon, thicker

01:51cloud outbreaks of rain starting to move in off the North Sea across north-east England.

01:56Temperatures generally getting into the low 20s, 22 to 24 still in the best of the sunshine.

02:01So not too bad for early September.

02:04Through Thursday evening, we're just watching an area of rain which could come in off the

02:08North Sea into northern England, southern parts of Scotland. This could be heavy at

02:12times, some gusty winds associated with this too. Elsewhere, we'll generally see showers,

02:17but perhaps Northern Ireland across in two parts of northern Wales, the Midlands seeing

02:21a drier interlude to end the day. Looking forward, well more sunshine and showers the

02:26next few days, perhaps easing as we head into the weekend for a time before more rain moves
