00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. It's turning increasingly
00:05unsettled from the south as low pressure takes charge of our weather. Yet again, weather
00:10systems over the next 24 hours will bring some heavy rain and storms across England
00:14and Wales in particular. And then next week, the wind switch to more of a northerly direction
00:19and temperatures will drop away, falling below average for the time of year by the time we
00:24get to Wednesday. Through this evening and overnight, outbreaks
00:28of heavy rain starting to push northwards across England and Wales. Some rumbles of
00:31thunder mix in there, some heavy downpours developing. There could be some tricky travelling
00:37conditions as we head through the evening and overnight into Sunday morning. Could be
00:41some localised flooding. Further north, drier across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Some
00:46low clouds still affecting northern and eastern coasts, giving some drizzle in places too.
00:52Temperatures generally remaining on the muggy side, particularly for England and Wales,
00:5515°C, 16°C locally, 17°C to start Sunday morning. An unsettled start to the day, outbreaks
01:02of heavy rain pushing north and westwards. Some local disruption is possible. Met Office
01:07warning out right through the day on Sunday. Some brighter skies developing across central
01:12and eastern parts of England into the afternoon, but this could trigger some heavy showers
01:17and thunderstorms. Generally drier for Northern Ireland, northern and western parts of Scotland,
01:22but largely cloudy here. The wind's coming in from the north here, so cooler than the
01:27past couple of days. Temperatures 18°C to 21°C, possibly locally 22°C and similar
01:33values across England and Wales. But under the cloud and heavy rain, it will feel cooler
01:37than this. This area of low pressure continues to give outbreaks of heavy rain, also perhaps
01:42affecting southern parts of Scotland, eastern Scotland, for a time before starting to pull
01:47away Sunday night. And generally it becomes drier from the west as we head towards Monday
01:53morning. Temperatures overnight with the northerly breeze starting to set in a little lower compared
01:58to what we saw over the weekend. So outbreaks of rain across central and eastern parts of
02:04England, southern Scotland first thing. This slowly starts to ease and push its way eastwards
02:09as we go through Monday, allowing drier and brighter weather to move in from the west
02:13with the next weather system though, bringing cloud and some patchy rain into Northern Ireland,
02:18western parts of Scotland later in the day. The wind's generally coming from a north-westerly
02:22direction, so temperatures actually back to where they should be for the time of year
02:27instead of the mid-20s in the sunshine, generally the mid-teens in the north to near 20°C in
02:33the south-east. So under the cloud it will feel cooler compared to what we saw at the
02:37weekend. In the short term, it is all about the heavy
02:40rain and thunderstorms pushing up over parts of England and Wales over the next 24 hours
02:45or so, so stay tuned to the forecast. See you again soon.
