00:00Hello there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. The weekend saw sunshine
00:05and heavy showers and thunderstorms across the UK. Will there be more this week? Well,
00:10yes. Low pressure remains in charge of our weather right through the week ahead, bringing
00:15spells of rain, some heavy showers and at times brisk winds too. And the winds coming
00:20in from the north-west will also make it quite chilly, particularly the further north and
00:24west you are across the UK.
00:27So for the rest of Sunday, we still have some thundery showers across the UK, but these
00:31will tend to ease as we head towards the end of the day. Plenty of clear spells generally
00:36overnight. Most places will be dry, still just a few showers across the far north-east
00:42of Scotland, and then by the end of the night, thicker clouds start to gather towards the
00:46south-west, the risk of a few showers developing here. And temperatures generally, despite
00:51the clear skies, holding up in double figures for most, 14 or 15 degrees, a little lower
00:56in the countryside. So for most, it's a bright sunny start, Monday morning, plenty of blue
01:01skies, but clouds gather quite quickly from the south-west as rain moves in to parts of
01:06Wales, the west country, pushing north-eastwards through the day. Some of this rain could be
01:10heavy at times, crossing Wales into north-west England. Generally, a lot of cloud around
01:15for many, but there will be some sunny spells, but also a scattering of showers away from
01:19this main band of rain. So parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland could see some heavy downpours.
01:24The best of the drier, sunnier weather, perhaps just holding on to some south-eastern parts
01:29of the UK. And here, across south-east England, we could still see highs around 24 or 25 degrees.
01:35So some warmth here, but for most, generally the high teens to low 20s. So if you are stuck
01:40under the cloud, and especially the heavier rain, you will feel quite chilly with some
01:45breezy conditions around the coasts. This band of rain continues to push north as we
01:49move through the evening time, though fragmenting overnight. And then overnight, we see further
01:54rain pushing into southern parts of England and Wales, which could be heavy at times.
01:59So generally, with a lot of cloud around to take us into Tuesday morning, it won't be
02:02particularly cold again. Temperatures generally 14 to 16 Celsius to start the day. We have
02:08that rain across southern and eastern parts of England, pushing its way slowly south-eastwards
02:13on Tuesday. Elsewhere, generally quite cloudy, another day of bright or sunny spells and
02:17scattered showers. And some of these showers could be heavy at times, some hail, some thunder,
02:22some gusty winds too. And quite a chilly feel, particularly in the north and the west.
02:27Temperatures here generally in the high teens to locally low 20s, 23, possibly 24 in the
02:32sheltered south-eastern spots. So it is fairly unsettled over the next few days. It continues
02:38that way over the rest of the week. Further spells of rain, some strong winds at times
02:43too, perhaps towards the north-west. But there will be some sunny spells, and in between
02:48we will feel fairly warm, but generally temperatures on the cool side for the time of year.
