00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest Met Office broadcast. We've had a transient ridge of
00:05high pressure across the UK through the first half of the weekend, but it is all changed
00:10for Sunday and through next week as well. We've got an active jet stream at the moment
00:15driving in weather systems. This large area of low pressure, you can see the tight isobars
00:21indicating the winds strengthening as we go through the next few days. But for now, we
00:27still just about hold on to that high pressure system. So, variable amounts of cloud. There
00:32is some sunny spells out there, but most places dry. Just one or two showers possible towards
00:37the east coast of England, but generally a fine afternoon to come, though thickening
00:43cloud outbreaks of rain already starting to move in across Northern Ireland. Temperatures
00:48overall similar to recent days, generally reaching the mid to high teens, so near average
00:53for the time of year. But winds generally light, so in the sunshine, it won't feel
00:57too bad. Definitely the best day overall. Then into this evening and overnight, the
01:02band of rain pushes in from the Atlantic, turning heavy during the early hours, particularly
01:07across parts of Scotland, Northern England, later on Wales and the West Country. Some
01:11drier spells moving into Northern Ireland, Western Scotland later on in the night, generally
01:16southeast England holding on to the clearest skies for longest. With this cloud and rain,
01:21it will start to drag in some mild air too. So, temperatures rising through the night,
01:26so by Sunday morning, most places in double figures. So, a bit of a cloudy start, a breezy
01:32start to Sunday morning. Outbreaks of rain for the West Country, Wales, Midlands into
01:37Northern England. Some rain as well for Northern Ireland, Western Scotland. Drier in between,
01:41some brighter spells for southeast England too. And then through the day, the bands of
01:45rain push north and turn increasingly heavy, some hefty downpours developing within this.
01:50We could see some localised flooding as we move into the evening time on Sunday. A met
01:55obvious warning out for this rain and the winds picking up too, particularly across
02:01the north and the west of the UK, 50, 60 miles an hour possible in exposed locations. Generally
02:06though, a breezy day for everyone, gusts of 20 to 30, possibly locally 40 miles an hour
02:12around the coast. But just notice into the afternoon, parts of England and Wales just
02:16brightening up. The southeast again, generally staying dry with some sunny spells. And the
02:21winds coming in from the south, mild air temperatures mid to high teens for most, but locally 20,
02:2621 Celsius in the best of the sunshine towards the southeast. Into the evening time, further
02:32pulses of heavy rain across Northern Ireland, stretching into Northern England, Scotland
02:36too. We could see some local disruption as we move through the evening time. Further
02:41heavy rain for Wales, the West Country too. Further east, generally dry and the winds
02:46staying on the strong side. And not much change as we move into next week. Jet stream
02:52remains strong and over the UK and we are watching the potential development of a deep
02:58area of low pressure moving into Wednesday. Some uncertainty with the details at this
03:02stage exactly where this low pressure will end up, but it is worth staying up to date
03:07with the forecast through the weekend and into next week as the details are likely to
03:11change a little, but some disruption from that low pressure is possible. So if you'd
03:16like more information on the weather over the coming days, you can follow us on our
03:20social media channels. See you again soon.
