00:00Hello. Welcome to your national weather update.
00:03High pressure remains in control of our weather like it has done for much of this week
00:07and like it will do actually for most of next week,
00:10meaning there's going to be a lot of dry weather around.
00:12Now, through Thursday, there were some areas that stayed predominantly cloudy.
00:16That cloud is drifting south but tending to break up, might turn a little misty overnight
00:20and cloud will increase across the far northwest through the early hours.
00:24But for most, it will be a dry night with clear spells and that means it will again turn a little chilly
00:29where we keep a fair bit of cloud. Temperatures could stay up in double figures
00:33but with the clear skies, we'll be dipping down into single digits
00:37and maybe not far off freezing through some sheltered parts across northern Scotland.
00:41So yes, a chilly-ish start to Friday but another fine day with plenty of sunshine.
00:47There will again be some areas that keep a fair bit of cloud but even here likely to be pretty bright,
00:53maybe a bit misty over southeast Scotland to begin with.
00:56There will be more cloud on Friday over the northwest.
00:58So the cloud thick enough for a little bit of drizzle at times,
01:01maybe over the Western Isles and through the middle of the day over the Highlands as well.
01:05And the cloud will increase over the Northern Isles.
01:07But elsewhere, we'll see some cloud but plenty of sunny spells.
01:11Always a little cooler by the sea. The seas are still pretty fresh at this time of year.
01:16So with a breeze off the sea, temperatures won't be as high.
01:19But inland with some sunshine, strong sunshine,
01:22temperatures getting up into the low 20s across the south, high teens further north.
01:27Cooler with that thickening cloud over the Northern Isles.
01:30And as I said, cooler by many coasts.
01:33During Friday evening, if you're heading out, well, no problems with the weather,
01:36dry and fine with clear spells.
01:38So again, a very pleasant Friday evening.
01:41Temperatures will start to drop off under the clear skies with light winds once more
01:45leading to a slightly fresh start to Saturday.
01:48And again, we'll see increasing cloud over northern Scotland during Saturday,
01:51perhaps a little bit more in the way of rain edging in here too.
01:54But the central belt southwards, dry, fine, lengthy spells of sunshine for most as well.
01:59And that will again see temperatures getting up to the high teens, low 20s,
02:04perhaps more widely over 20 Celsius, maybe 23 across parts of south Wales.
02:08Again, some of the coasts will be cooler and it will be cooler in northern Scotland
02:13because this line of rain is a cold front which is pushing its way southwards.
02:18And that cold front, although not producing much rain,
02:21will introduce a cooler feel for many of us during the second two days of the long weekend.
02:27But you can see high pressure remains firmly in control.
02:30So it may turn a little cooler.
02:32But generally, the weather is set fair through the long weekend
02:35with plenty of dry and fine conditions.
02:38If we rewind and put that cold front back on,
02:40you can see it is introducing cooler conditions across northern Scotland late Saturday
02:45and then pushing south at slightly cooler air during Sunday.
02:48But with the high pressure building back in,
02:50temperatures with the strength of the sunshine will be recovering by the time we get to Monday afternoon.
02:55So yes, perhaps turning a little cooler through the weekend, but plenty of fine weather to be had.
