00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. Following the storms
00:04of last week and the wintry showers of this week, the final weekend of meteorological
00:09spring is looking less wintry. But having said that, it will be a chilly night for parts
00:14of England and Wales, perhaps eastern Scotland with clear spells and lighter winds, a touch
00:20of frost in places. However, for much of the rest of Scotland, Northern Ireland, perhaps
00:25Northern England, parts of West Wales, more of a breeze, cloudier skies here, keeps the
00:31frost at bay. So, a milder start here, but a windy start in the north-west and there's
00:36the risk throughout Friday night into Saturday of gales around the western isles of Scotland,
00:41perhaps Shetland as well, 50, 60 mph wind gusts with these tightly packed isobars. But
00:46we're in between weather fronts in this broad, warm sector, a slice of relatively moist,
00:52mild Atlantic air. However, with the winds coming up from the south rather than the
00:56south-west, for many it's a bright day. Plenty of sunshine for central and eastern England,
01:00much of Wales as well, and for a time, eastern Scotland is seeing some brighter interludes.
01:05But the cloudier skies will always be towards the north-west, that's where the windiest
01:09weather will be as well, a few spots of rain over the hills and temperatures rising to
01:149 or 10 Celsius in the north, 11 to 12 further south. More of a breeze compared to Friday
01:20but similar amounts of sunshine I think for southern parts of the UK. Into Saturday evening
01:26and the clear skies in the south tend to migrate northwards as the winds back a little and
01:34as a result, we'll see some clear spells there for eastern and southern Scotland. But thicker
01:39cloud always towards the west of Scotland, Northern Ireland as well. A weather front
01:43is approaching here slowly overnight to bring some light and showery outbreaks of rain to
01:48the Western Isles, perhaps the far west of Northern Ireland, but that's about it. For
01:52most it's a dry night and a clear night, so temperatures dropping but not as far as they
01:58might otherwise because of the keen breeze. So a touch of frost in sheltered spots for
02:03England and Wales, eastern Scotland, first thing Sunday, but a bright start. Plenty of
02:07blue skies once again up and down the country. It turns a little cloudier into the afternoon
02:11for Wales and the south-west as this front pivots, perhaps some rain and cornwall, but
02:16you can see the front really starting to weaken by this stage, no more than a showery feature.
02:23So no particularly wet weather I think for most and for many parts of the UK. Actually
02:28Sunday is another bright and rather breezy day, highs of 9 to 10 Celsius. Much more as
02:35always on the Met Office social media channels and you can follow us on all of these various
02:41platforms. Bye-bye.
