00:00Hello, it's the first day of meteorological spring and there's plenty of sunshine and
00:05offer across the northern half of the UK.
00:08Further south, it's fairly grey under these weather fronts and it's going to get wetter
00:12through the day as this area of low pressure nudges northwards.
00:15But high pressure is dominating across much of the north and we've got largely clear skies
00:19in the satellite image.
00:20A few showers pushing in across the northern isles.
00:23There's the thicker cloud across the south bringing drizzly conditions across East Anglia
00:27and the south-east.
00:28But the rain pepping up this afternoon over south-west England likely to turn quite heavy
00:33through the evening as well.
00:34Some of it trickling up towards south Wales so we may see some creeping into Cardiff.
00:38Much of Wales and certainly most of northern England dry.
00:41Plenty of sunshine here for Northern Ireland and most of Scotland.
00:45Light winds as well.
00:46Feeling pretty pleasant.
00:4710, maybe 11 degrees across Aberdeenshire.
00:4910 or 11 in the south as well but obviously not feeling very pleasant here as the rain
00:54peps up and the winds start to strengthen.
00:58During this evening the rain will get heavier over Devon Cornwall.
01:00Parts of Somerset lasting for a fair few hours as well.
01:04That rain then spreading more widely across Wales into parts of the Midlands.
01:08Lots of cloud then for England and Wales overnight.
01:10But clear skies across Scotland will allow it to turn quite cold.
01:13So quite a contrast between north and south with our temperatures well above freezing
01:18in the south.
01:19But towns and cities dropping to freezing across Scotland through some sheltered glens
01:23minus 3, maybe as low as minus 4.
01:25So a cold start here but again plenty of sunshine on Wednesday across the Highlands of Scotland.
01:31It will cloud over across southern Scotland.
01:33Certainly a greyer day for Northern Ireland and increasingly turning damp as well.
01:37Rain and drizzle drifting in here.
01:38Dull and damp for a good part of Wales, the West Midlands, north-west England.
01:42But it won't rain all day in the south-west of England.
01:45Some drier spells.
01:46Much of eastern England will also stay dry, just predominantly cloudy.
01:50With the winds coming up from the south, temperatures are a bit above average.
01:54But that wind, particularly with the rain, won't make it feel very pleasant at all.
01:59We will eventually see the rain pushing more widely into central and southern Scotland
02:03during Wednesday evening.
02:04And more weather fronts gathering, more rain out to the west, which will add up to a fairly
02:08damp day on Thursday.
02:10Signs of things turning a bit drier and colder as we go through the weekend and into next
02:16week.
