7 March - National weather forecast presented by Greg Dewhurst
Transcript
00:00Hello there, I'm Greg Dewhurst and welcome to the latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:04High pressures dominated the weekend's weather. Over the next few days we'll see high pressure
00:08slowly slip its way eastwards, allowing weather fronts from the Atlantic to edge closer to the UK.
00:13Outbreaks of rain are possible, particularly in the north and the west, but further south and
00:16east you are drier, milder air moving in as well, highs of 15 degrees by Thursday.
00:22Through Sunday evening, chilly for many of us, dry as well overnight into Monday morning,
00:27a widespread frost forming across the north of the UK. Patchy frost in the south, temperatures
00:31down close to freezing, but minus three, minus four is possible in the countryside across Scotland
00:37and Northern Ireland in particular. So ice scrapers at the ready first thing Monday morning,
00:42but blue skies to greet across much of the UK. Patchy cloud across parts of England and Wales
00:47will come and go, but plenty more sunshine compared to Sunday here. Blue skies across
00:52Scotland and Northern Ireland for much of the day and generally light winds for everyone,
00:56though across the west and southwest of the UK the winds will start to pick up later on in the
01:01day. However, it's still fairly chilly for the time of year, temperatures struggling 7 to 9
01:07degrees, perhaps squeezing a 10 in one or two sheltered spots across the north and the west,
01:12so a little below average here. However, as we go through the next few days, those temperatures
01:17will start to rise 14 or 15 degrees by Thursday. Monday evening we see clear skies are turning
01:24chilly once again, patchy cloud across England and Wales and some frost forming across northern
01:29England and parts of Scotland by the end of the night. For more information on the weather where
01:34you are over the next few days, you can follow us on our various social media channels.
