00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. Well, it is going to
00:04turn much colder over the next few days, increasing risk of snow too. Looking at the bigger picture
00:10and northerly winds, Arctic air across the whole of the UK. However, Tuesday to Thursday,
00:16some slightly less cold air could move into the far south. Any weather systems moving
00:20in could bump up against the cold air, turn to rain and snow in places. However, there
00:24is some uncertainty surrounding this. Some models do keep the mild air just to the south
00:29of the UK and most of the weather systems moving into the near continent. So do stay
00:33tuned to the forecast over the coming days. Through Sunday evening, a lot of cloud across
00:39the UK, but into the early hours, we will see some clear spells developing, particularly
00:43across south east England. So patchy frost developing here, patchy rain moving its way
00:47southwards and overall temperatures under the cloud holding up just above freezing.
00:53But frequent snow showers moving into north east Scotland during the early hours will
00:57make for a tricky start to Monday morning. Icy stretches in places, frequent heavy snow
01:03showers reducing visibility on roads at times too. Elsewhere, a fairly cloudy start to Monday.
01:08There will be some sunny spells, but this weather system here giving some showery rain
01:12slowly pushes its way southwards through the day, turning colder from the north. We'll
01:17see temperatures really struggling four to six Celsius across the north of the UK, seven
01:22to nine Celsius generally across the south, perhaps ten towards Devon and Cornwall. But
01:27even here, temperatures slipping away later. Add on the feels like so here with the northerly
01:33wind coming down from the Arctic, it will feel bitter out there through Monday afternoon,
01:37minus five Celsius there in Aberdeen. So a few extra layers will be needed, some icy
01:42stretches right through the day. Into the evening on Monday, we're just watching this
01:47area of cloud and rain moving into parts of Wales and then into the early hours, pushing
01:51into parts of the Midlands, central southern England. It could bump up against that colder
01:55air and turn to snow. But elsewhere under clearing skies, temperatures falling well
02:00below freezing, minus five to minus ten Celsius in the glens of Scotland, for example. Frequent
02:05snow showers continuing to be blown in across northern and eastern Scotland, perhaps Northern
02:10Ireland, Northern England too. So some icy stretches to start Tuesday morning here, but
02:15a frosty icy start for many. Plenty of blue skies, some patchy rain and snow across southern
02:20England still possible. But again, stay tuned to the forecast for the details for this should
02:25move away as we move through into the afternoon on Tuesday. Plenty of sunny spells to come,
02:30still some wintry showers feeding in from the north, a cold feeling day. Met Office
02:34warnings remain in force through Tuesday as well. Temperatures below average for the beginning
02:40of March, two to six Celsius. Add on the strength of that northerly breeze, it will feel much
02:45more like freezing once more. So there's quite a bit going on with the weather over the next
02:49few days, some details still to be ironed out. So you can follow us on our social media
02:54for all the latest. I'll see you again soon.
