00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. We should see improving
00:05skies over the next couple of days as high pressure builds in. At the moment, low pressure
00:10is in charge, giving outbreaks of rain across the country. But through Good Friday into
00:14the Easter weekend, it should largely stay settled, though by Easter Monday, we will
00:18see weather fronts returning stronger winds as well.
00:22So, there's a wet evening across much of the UK, outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards which
00:27will be heavy at times. Drier conditions for Northern Ireland and North West Scotland
00:31for a time, but the risk of some heavy showers as we move into the early hours here. By the
00:36end of the night, the rain becoming a bit more confined to the far east.
00:40A lot of cloud across the UK tonight, so that will keep temperatures from dropping too low,
00:44generally in towns and cities, 5 to 9 Celsius. So, a frost-free start to Thursday morning,
00:50but largely cloudy skies. Some blue skies across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland
00:55to begin, but elsewhere generally cloudy. Through the day, the increasing risk of some
00:59heavy showers across parts of Wales into the Midlands, Central and Southern England. Some
01:03rumbles of thunder too. Elsewhere, some sunny spells, but the risk of a few showers. Always
01:08cloudier and outbreaks of rain across some eastern parts of Scotland and in England as
01:14well as the Northern Isles, seeing outbreaks of rain. Best of the driest weather into the
01:19afternoon will be parts of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland.
01:23Temperatures overall, not too bad for the time of year, 12 to 14 Celsius, maybe 15 or
01:2816 towards the far south east. Feeling cooler across northern parts of Scotland, we saw
01:3316 degrees on Wednesday, more like 12 or 13 for Thursday afternoon. Into the evening time,
01:40the risk of showers merging to give some longer spells of rain down the eastern side of England.
01:44But elsewhere into the early hours, skies will clear and that will allow temperatures
01:48to drop with light winds. We will see the return of frost across parts of Northern Ireland
01:53into Scotland, in particular temperatures in towns and cities falling close to freezing
01:58if not below here, just holding up across the far east and southeast. Bit more of a
02:02breeze here and the overnight cloud holding on into the morning. So a sunny but cold start
02:09to Good Friday across the UK. Low cloud across the eastern England. This could linger for
02:13much of the day. It will lap on shore at times from the North Sea, affecting parts of eastern
02:18Scotland too, perhaps thick enough for a few spots of drizzle. But elsewhere, plenty
02:22of sunshine. Blue skies, temperatures lifting 16 degrees quite widely across parts of England
02:28and Wales, 12 or 13 into Scotland too. And that high pressure continues to build through
02:34Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of sunny spells to come, but it does turn wetter and windier
02:40into Easter Monday. If you'd like more information on the weather where you are over the next
02:44few days, you can follow us on our social media channels. See you again soon.
