00:00Hello, good morning. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. High pressure
00:05just about holding on at the moment, keeping it largely settled though on the chilly side
00:09for the time of year. The high pressure moves away over the next few days and is replaced
00:14by lower pressure, so an increasing risk of some showers and longer spells of rain, some
00:18stronger winds too as we move into the weekend. So, stay tuned to the forecast over the coming
00:24days. With high pressure generally holding on, it's a chilly start this morning, some
00:28frost in places, but sunshine too. Notice how the eastern side of the country is cloudier,
00:33quite a key northerly breeze here through the day today, a few showers are possible.
00:39Best of the sunshine across western areas unbroken for some of us, but the cloud will
00:43bubble up and come and go and the wind is generally lighter here. So, a bit of a west
00:47east split in temperatures through into the afternoon. Best of the temperatures in the
00:52west up to 12 to 14, locally 15 Celsius, but chilly in the east. Single figures along the
00:58east coast, 8 or 9 degrees. Add on that northerly breeze gusting around 20 to 30 mph, it will
01:04be quite chilly out there, particularly under the cloud. Into the evening time, the cloud
01:08starts to melt away, we see some late sunshine for a time across the east and into the early
01:13hours it generally stays dry, though a weather system will bring some showers into northern
01:18and eastern Scotland, perhaps later into northern England, one or two showers for Wales too.
01:23In between, plenty of clear spells and just like recent nights, under those clear skies,
01:29temperatures will dip away. Towns and cities mid to low single figures, but in the countryside
01:33we could see a touch of frost, particularly across the north and the west here, temperatures
01:37minus 2 or minus 3 say across the Borders region into Northern Ireland. So, chilly start
01:43again to Thursday, perhaps one or two mist patches around, but these soon clearing away.
01:48This weather system will bring some showery outbreaks of rain to eastern Scotland, northeast
01:52England as it pushes southwards. Later on, we could see one or two showers bubble up
01:56across central and southern England too. Generally on Thursday, a bit more cloud around compared
02:01to Wednesday, but still plenty of sunny spells, particularly in the west. Ahead of then, this
02:05weather system moving in for the evening time and winds generally a little lighter, but
02:10still breezy along the east coast with temperatures here struggling around 8 or 9. Time of year,
02:16temperatures should be around 13 or 14 here, so quite a bit below average. 13 or 14 possible
02:21in the best of the sunshine across some western parts. So, then taking a look at the weather
02:26for the rest of the next few days, it looks like it starts to turn more unsettled as low
02:32pressure starts to move in, increased risk of some showery rain which could turn heavy
02:37at times, particularly by the weekend. You can find more information on this on our social
02:41media channels. See you again soon.
